68k mac mp3

has anyone ever succeeded in playing mp3 files on a 68040 mac? I have a duo 280c that I would like to play mp3s on.
I have seen some cheap low quality players, but i want to really be able to do it.
Quicktime 4.0.3 is available for 68k macs, but can it play mp3s on them?

I don't see why not, if you're able to load QT4 on there it should be able to play them...

It will prolly work, but you will need to top out your RAM... and not run other apps.


But... I do have my doubts... My 250 mhz PB 3400 had troubles at times.

i think i have heard that quicktime won't support mp3s on 68ks. I haven't tried yet.

well it doesn't work. quicktime doesn't support mp3s on 68ks. dang anyone have any ideas?
