Personally, I picked up an HP-48g+ (http://www.calculatorsource.com/hp-48gplus.html) this morning; the HP-48gx apparently is still available from HP despite also being featured at Calculator Source.

A review of the HP48 can be had by downloading this pdf file (http://www.transnull.com/files/hp48/aug94_6t.pdf).

I'm using a 48gx, bought it my freshmen year and I love the thing. Once you go stack based memory, its impossible to go back.... well worth the $150.

The one I bought for college years ago was an HP-34c, which my dad uses now for everyday calculations. And he loves RPN.

Replaced the thing mid-90's when I couldn't find battery packs for it; my dad, always the electronic engineer, hiked into a Batteries Plus store and had the salesguy cobble together something -- a perfect match.

The replacement was a HP-32sII for $150 -- now selling for $350 mint at the site I specified. Non-graphing, but it's probably the best thing if you can find one.

I'm still using my HP 32S RPN everyday at work (It's from 1987). If you don't have a RPN calculator, you need to check it out. I find it difficult to switch back to a regular calculator.

pCalc (http://www.pcalc.com/) is an RPN calculator for MacOS X, and you should download it to keep your desktop sanity, as well.
