Pardon? I'm usually pretty good at understanding what people mean even with spelling mistakes, but "dins"? I'm not trying to be snide or rude, just curious as to what you mean.

an the thing onlt came with a 30 day trial of this software! WHAT? I am pised...
No, you don't get MS Office bundled with it. If you don't want to pay the $100-$150 your school sells the Student and Teachers edition for, you can use OpenOffice.

You can download OpenOffice or NeoOffice for free. Safari has a spell-checker, too.

Hmm if you were apple corp. would you want to cut a couple hundred dollars of profit from each computer.

Also does dell, gateway, hp, yata yata give you office? NO!

you probly don't realize this but text edit can read and write to .doc (word format) documents.

Lots of new houses down here don't even include those, unless they are built into the cabinets...

Ummm does anyone else think that if he doesn't already own Office (office 2004 may I remind you, it's several years old...) that he doesn't really need it anyway, and if it's just for word why wouldn't he use openoffice unless he's some sort of newb who doesn't realize that there are many microsoft alternatives out there...

Me too :p

A quick search online suggests the OP was referring to the Harvard jazz and acapella group: Din & Tonics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dins), but I'm not getting it's use as a verb. Sounds swinging though!

Back to the original concern: Other posts you've written indicate you can purchase MS Windows for $25 from your university. I'm guessing they'll also give you an equally amazing deal on MS Office if you want it. As such, I wouldn't expect much sympathy...

Hm, maybe he went into a Mac Shop instead of a Mac Donalds by mistake. But if you order the Big Mac at a Mac Store won't they rather give you the Quad? :)

Sorry, could not resist.

If it makes anybody feel better, the 17" laptops from Dell, HP, and Gateway don't come with Office or even Word without paying for it.

NeoOffice 2.0 is awesome, it runs well, (haven't had any crashes, yet *knocks on wood*), but OO is the best. I'm serious, if you use that (NeoOffice for Mac OS X which uses Cocoa and Java -- regular OpenOffice uses X11 which isn't very good) it will get everything you need, and more, done for you. Seriously, just google NeoOffice and download the 2.0 Alpha 3.

If you need layout - RagTime Solo is free and very comparable to Quark Xpress and Adobe InDesign.
AbiWord is Cocoa based and works ok, not the best, but its ok.
Um... what others.. Pages is great, but doesn't have the features most need like NeoOffice and MSO has.

You didn't ask a question, dude, or ask for any help. You posted a b!^@#y whine post -- compound that with incomprehensible grammar and spelling, it's an irresistable target for humor. OF COURSE you're going to get mocked on that. Post something reasonable, and you'll get a reasonable answer.
