View Full Version : How much is my system worth?

Hi folks. I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. Anyway, here's the deal. I'm looking to purchase a new machine and am therefore trying to find out how much to ask for my current setup.

I"m running a G4 450 Cube/DVD/1.5 GB RAM/20 GB HD/ATI Radeon 32 MB DDR with a 15" Apple Studio Display. Also included in the package is a QPS 16x10x40x CD burner, an iSub, a Handspring Visor Edge, and a brand new Logitech Cordless Elite Duo wireless desktop. It'll sell with 10.2.4 preinstalled and the latest software updates. All hardware is in very good condition.

I was hoping that some of you more familiar with the market than myself could help me figure out a good asking price for all of this. Again, any help you could offer would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Cubes go for a lot, partly because people love them, and partly because you can put dual 1.42ghz G4s in them... mmm.

I'd say a billion dollars.

Check ebay, and look at the 'completed items.'

No better source than that.

I don't think dual 1.4 upgrades are available yet, but I just put a 1GHz single in mine and got xbench up to 97. People putting in the 1.2GHz get about 108.

Sure you don't want to upgrade what is obviously a very nice system?

I think you can get around $1000 for it. You might want to sell it without all the extras, since they make for a rather "cordy" setup.

Indeed, you would get more money selling everything seperately. I might want the cube, but I won't give you a dollar more for a consumer plastic subwoofer (no offense to iSub owners).

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm going to sell the Cube and monitor as a package and try to sell the rest off piecemeal.

As for upgrading, I'd love to but I am really starting to need portability. I've gotten started in design lately, and I find that my abject lack of portability is quickly driving me crazy. Still, I'm going to miss this little machine.
