www.linuxnewbie.org
I don't know if that URL still works, though. The name was changed to www.justlinux.com , and most of the members left because of some policy changes. I don't know if it's still active, but if it is, check for a users called "mdwatts". He has over 25,000 posts.
And, really, most of the boards I frequent have users with close to 10,000 posts. But, the boards have been around for a few years, too, which made me think this site is still pretty new.

but then it never gets public, heh. we weren't and aren't exclusivizing. anyone could have joined that thread. sure, it drifts on and off-topic... as do most of the lectures of my AP history teacher. we still all got 4s and 5s on the AP exam, and we always followed her. and i respect your opinion, but i really can't believe you said "just" within the context of a community discussion, which are frequently off topic to a prefectly good end, on an internet forum. it sounds like you are taking macrumors too seriously :p; you should just get some of sunbaked's animations and post them madly.

which to me makes it all the more amazing that duke has so many posts. he hasn't really done such things. i've had a late night fest or two myself (ahh, good old days). just not quite as chatty. though dong bags are fun.

certainly worthy of being put on iChat, yep.
but, there's not always just one niche for something. I think that's OK for a community discussion; i mean, really, it's not the place you go to for structured argumentation set to stringent rules. by your logic, hmm, maybe macrumors could work like an apple mailing list? would that make it too confusing? methinks so. i also think that having our often idle discussion on a thread helps alleviate some of the confusion of iChat.
as you point out, you've "done such things," if "not quite as chatty," so i imagine you can see a purpose for it. i'm sure we'll grow out of it too. the average age on the geek thread is around 18, i am pretty sure.
for my part, i stay on topic fairly scrupulously on the other areas, such as news/rumor discussion :)

sure, there is. i just don't think that there is anything that implies submission (esp not of a sexual nature) here. more than anything, she strikes me as having lost love or having suffered a death in the family. the blue on the wall and her dress lends a whole tone of, if not depression, great sadness of some form. the only thing that even comes close to what you are saying is the way her back is arched forwards, and that by itself hardly suggestive, IMO. but hey, you like it, i like it, let's get back to vniow;)

I agree, but i think it often makes it more interesting, more realistic, if you will. certainly, the way a lot of news and rumor discussions drift, i learn a lot, often. sometimes it's a nuisance, sure, but it's a compromise. i prefer that compromise to the one you make on a mailing list, i.e. the convenience of an online forum.

that's such a letdown (the name)
2 things i'd like to point out about my hero here...
1. nerdiness- remembered the topic from before, found it, posted it
2. hardassness- "you'll have to kill me now i guess." totally nonchalant in the face of danger. just a little "f you" to anyone who threatens him... amazing!

Well you actually asked on page one, I gave you some clues then you still couldn't figure it out and it went on to page two, I gave you more clues, then it got off topic and it finally died but I revived it and gave it up and by then it was on page four and this is getting off topic like every other thread I post in.http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=251202

holy nerds.
i didn't know that real live "comic book guy" from the simpsons type people existed! sweet
i think my hero has been shown up on nerdness.... or at least challenged. but no worries, he'd rather be out macking up some new (read: old) hardware than talking some nonexistent language.... nobody ever programmed anything in klingon!
