Now before I start I apologize in advance if this has been posted before...(I didn't bother to use the infamous "search" tool), but it appears the release date for the Opera browser DS has been set...at least for our friends in Japan.

that's £17.95.
can't wait for that to come out here :) chances are I'd rarely use it but it would be nice to have. pity they didn't bundle a messenger in there too.

But resolution is so small on the ds screen, pages will be resized really really badly so what's the point.

PSP browser is utter ***** other than sony's specific online service for downloading demos...

Seems a bit pointless to me.

But with the 2 screens and the 1 touch screen, you could have the bottom screen displaying the whole page, then touching the sections on the screen would bring up a larger image on the top screen. Then it's like scrolling. This is my guess what its like, I really have no idea

Yeah, that is pretty much what it looks like they are doing.

Just look at the Opera DS press release (http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2006/02/15/index.dml), it has a screenshot.

Indeed....even with the dual screens i see this as being just as sucky as the PSPs.....plus the fact that I have to buy a add on(card) to use it...I see no difference.

sorry if this is a dumb question (ive never owned a game console, portable gaming thing, or more than 2 computewr games, so im a n00b in this area...) but how does the DS connect to the net? does the opera flashcard thingy have integrated 802.11?

The DS has Wi-Fi integrated in the hardware.

Have a look at the DS FAQ thread for more details: Linky-Dinky (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=210435)

Thanks for the link, but I think I'll wait for the US version. I'm not one to import. Any word on that date?

The DS has always had 802.11b built in, that's how you can play Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Tetris DS, or Metroid Prime Hunters online, and almost every game with local wireless multiplayer.
