I cant get this game to work with my router... is this game designed to be played multi only with people 30 ft from you, or can u connect to others in cyber space

Nope. Only with local people. The game has to be "Wi-Fi", and NSMB is'nt.

Only games with a little WiFi sticker on go online. In the game there is an option to connect to the Nintendo WiFi Connection.
Mario isn't WiFi enabled, though with tunnelling (if this ever happens) you'll be able to play against other people then. It tricks the DS into thinking you're playing a local match when you're actually playing online.
