I've had my own forum before. I've never modded anyone though. It was a short lived forum.

I used to run a forum. I banned a few people. You do feel mighty powerful when you are the administrator.

But with power comes responsibility and headache. It's fun when it's a trial forum with only you. It's a bit less fun when there are thousands of active members....

So in the trial version can you edit your thread titles to correct word usage?

I'm an admin on a pretty popular forum and I've banned many people in my day, and depending on their offenses, I still enjoy doing it :D

It might even make you quit. In fact, everyone I know who own and operates online forums or moderates them, talks about the trouble walking that fine line between order and censorship.

I wouldn't mind taking that power off your hands if you don't want it. :D

You say that only because you don't know what all is involved. And, by the way, you don't get paid....

Ask bousozoku. He's the smart one. ;)

You have to pay.

Maybe we can have some deal where I can join...I would love that power on a real forum. :D

So that $1000 "licensing fee" I had to pay Q when I signed up was... unnecessary?

Hey, it was only money. At least you didn't have to do the "flaming A".

I run my own site and I have yet to find a need to ban someone during this revision of the site.

Now i just need to buy The vB geek GARS so i can setup a review system for anime and CDs then i need to start buying DVDs and CDs for my reviewers. -_-

A lot of effort goes into running a good site

no you don't.

When you contribute and donate money to the site, you can either chouse between demigod/goddess or Contributor.

I pick DemiGod.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with becoming a mod/god...

And my point is that the discussion (between EricNau and jsw was about moderator/god powers and how you don't get paid for being a mod/god. You chimed in to say that you have to pay to be a mod. jelloshotsrule jumped in to say that that wasn't correct. You apparently still seemed to disagree with that notion, and I attempted to clarify that you're mixing mod/god issues with contributor/demi-god issues that aren't what this thread is about.

Which is one reason I wish they weren't called Demi-God/dess. It clearly goes to some people's head.
