I just ordered 512 MB for my wifes iBook but have never even cracked the case before and don't know how to go about doing it.

I noticed a few allen screws on the bottom but don't know if that's where I should start.

I've installed memory before just not in the iBook.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks,

John

it's really really easy to do -

in between the volume up button and the number lock, there is what looks like an empty key with a hole in the middle. the hole has a tiny slot. make sure that slot is horizontal; if it is not, get a small screw driver and make it so.
next, turn off the computer and take out the battery.

then, look for similar blank keys next to the esc button and the eject button. pull them gently downwards - you should be able to tilt the keyboard back and then move it from its place.
discharge any static you may have on the metal plate under the keyboard.

if you have an airport card installed, remove it and set it aside.

there should be a large metal plate with two screws in it. unscrew that plate, and slide your ram in the blank slot.

repeat all the other steps in reverse.

all done.

Yeah basically look at the video
here. (http://www.info.apple.com/usen/cip/html/ibook/ibookdusb-memory.cip.mov.html)

As a slide-show and it is simple enough.

I know a lot about audio if you need anyone. I like games too...;)

Thanks a lot!

The instructions are great and that video is really helpful too. I must have spent and hour last night searching the Apple web site and kept coming up dry.

Thanks for the help,

John
