I downloaded a photo program off of LW yesterday we'll call it (Aper).
I installed it and when it finished my desktop icons all dissapeared for a brief moment then returned. After that a vertical blue line about 1/4 in thick appeared on the far right side of my screen. I immediatley thought this was a problem. So I dragged the app to the trash and secure deleted it. Then restarted my computer. But the line was still there. Also I opened up the finder and I noticed something else. My network icon in the top left corner of the finder window has the eject button next to it. This is not usually there. I tried to eject it but nothing happens. There are two files in that screen(Network). Library and Servers. When I click library it tells me that "The alias"Library" cant be opened because the original item cant be found...And the options are delete alias, fix alias and ok.
If I try to delete, it wont let me. If I try to fix..I have no idea as to which to choose as the original.
Why is it an alias, and how could I possibly fix my problems above.

Sorry so much info. I hope it is helpful in finding a solution.

Thank you for your help in advance.

It just ejects all mounted network drives. You can't actually "eject" the network.

Ok thank you for that piece of advise.
The eject button is usally not there and why will it not eject(unmount)
I dont even use the network function, that I am aware of. So why is there all of the sudden.

I also had the mysterious broken alias pop up while messing with Safari with my new MacBook. I found a discussion concerning this, but no one figured out what the cause.

http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-42360.html.

I fixed mine by doing a fresh install of OS X. I did this to eliminate a lot unwanted OS X bloat first of all. I haven't had the broken alias file, Library, pop up for a week now. I also moved to firefox too for my browser.

Hmmm. You pirated software and it comes back to bite you, and then you post about it twice?

Shame on you. If I see this come up again, you're going to be taking a vacation from MR.
