I want to get rid of a Rev. A PowerMac G5 that I have had for three years. It is a wonderful machine and still has all the muscle I need however, I need to be mobile now and the PowerMac G5 is a bit hefty. The PowerMac is all original factory parts, except for the additional 512 megs of RAM that I purchased. THIS MACHINE HAS THE ORIGINAL 1/2 SPEED RAM BUS, 900 MHz (as opposed to the more recent 1.8 G5 that had a 600 MHz bus). I have the original packing materials (including the original box) and will ship it in them. There are two small cosmetic flaws on the case (a scratch and a ding) but the unit is otherwise in excellent condition (non-smoking evironment, underneath a desk, carpeted floors).

The machine is currently running MacOS 10.4 and I am typing this ad on it.

Specs:
One 1.8 ghz Power PC G5 processor
1 gigabyte DDR RAM (4x256 PC-3200)
320 gig SATA harddrive
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (64 mb VRAM)
4x DVD+-R (single layer)
Internal Bluetooth module (and antenna)

I am asking $950 and will include an Apple Wireless Keyboard.

Terms and Conditions

I normally would not put this, but apparently its necessary to spell things out.

1) The machine is for sale as is.
2) I will only ship domestically (inside the United States).
3) The buyer pays the mutually agreed price of the item and all shipping costs. The buyer chooses the method of shipment (either USPS, FedEx, or UPS) and tracking numbers and/or insurance. Based on past experience, do not choose "Parcel Post" even though it is the cheapest unless you are prepared to wait.
4) The item will be shipped upon receipt of PayPal payment, not before.
5) The seller's responsibility is to ship the item as advertised and inform the buyer of any shipping information (i.e. tracking numbers) pertinent to the item's delivery.

I will do my best to answer and questions or concerns you may have.

Sooo, is the current lack of interest due to price? What would be a proper price for this machine?

I think you have a reasonable price, I just think that a lot of people are waiting to see what the Mac Pro will bring - especially since Powermac prices will undoubtedly fall a bunch once it's out. If you're looking for the highest price for your machine, though, I'd say go with eBay for now. Single 1.8Ghz G5's are selling for around $950 on there, so you'd have a better chance there.

Keep in mind that MR tends to be much more informed about Apple products and prices than other places, like eBay.

Very true, all of it..$950 is a pretty good deal for now. I don't know what the hell I'm going to do when the Mac Pro comes out, the prices are going to start going downhill for all us powermac owners...

I just wanted to say that Fiveos22 is a great seller and I would not hesitate to do business with him again!

The problem is, you're screwed. The intel macs screwed us all up.

Hell I just sold a month old MacBook PRO for $600 less than I paid for it, just because the darned Macbook came out and the bumped the MBP speeds. Talk about getting it in the arse.

I would def go for an eBay sale. Even with all the fees, you'll make much, much more there than here. People here are cheap. If you have good feedback, you can even limit your payment methods to MOs only (to avoid PP fraud) and still make a bunch.

I just wanted to give the people here preferential treatment before I go to eBay (for the record, eBay is the devil, almost as much as Google is the devil, however the internets can't do without either of them...)

I can't agree more. I would (and have) gladly taken less here just so i don't have to list an item 4-5 times before I get a winning bidder who isn't a scammer.

Yeah, but less here means I offer you $500 for it.

Go to fleabay, sell it auction style, starting at $1 with no reserve. State CLEARLY in the auction that due to fraud concerns, you will only accept USPS MOs for this auction. This allows you to verify the MO with the PO the day you receive it, cash it for free, and get their item out faster to them. IF they want to pay with check or whatever, it will be held 10 business days or until cleared BEFORE shipping. Also, make sure you say you must have 10 feedback score or the like to bid, unless you are cleared through email first.

This will get you a lower sale price than if you'd accepted Paypal (and got scammed, or screwed by fees and still have the risk of a scam), but more than you'll probably get here. Don't make the mistake I did - including all I mentioned above, but forgot to remove PP as an option for payment!

Good luck! Hell I might even bid on it if you'll provide us with a link, I'd love to get it for $400 ;)

Just a suggestion. If the auction is not featured.. feature it. Also, take out the reserve price. It will scare away a lot of bidders and you won't get nearly as many bids as you would without it. Just my 2 cents.

Advice taken.

Reserve lowered to next bid.

I really don't feel like featuring this auction.

Sorry folks, eBay is being a bitch and won't let me lower the reserve or HTML FORMAT THE FREAKIN DESCRIPTION!!!!!!

Consequently the reserve has not been changed...my apologies.

I hate eBay.

I hate eBay.

You should be able to format the descrition with HTML, I've never had a problem.

Now if you're talking about the original description, you can't change the description once bids have been placed (or within 12 hours of end if they haven't). You can add to the description, however, and you can format it with HTML.
