my friends who are not on a mac and are using aim say they cant see my away/here message.... any idea why this is?


i can see thiers.. but they cant see mine.

okay they can see my away but not my here.


they dont have a here so that solves that. they have profiles. wheres my profiles in ichat?

iChat currently does not have the ability to create profiles. Hopefully they will add this feature in a future version.

That is probably just the least of my concerns with iChat. It should also recognize carriage returns, it should have an expandable input field (I use iChat enhancer to add these 2 options). It's direct connect ability needs to be improved, it should also not try to display large graphics files in the chat window too.

Not exactly "expandable" input field, but you can set the number of lines, default with this plugin is 3

You may also need Application Enhancer

I am really annoyed that iChat doesn't have an autoresponse feature...I can do without the profile, but that annoys me because AIM people always think I am online when the message doesn't pop up.
Also, when people on my buddy list are classified as "idle" there is no way(that I know of) to view their away message...is there some way around this?
Are there any hacks, or tips anyone has to offer to circumvent these annoyances?

iChat is still very beta-ish and needs inhancements. Wait for
an update but until then use another AIM client.
