This eWeek article (http://www.eweek.com/article/0,3658,s=25201&a=22694,00.asp) notes that Apple will be absent -- at least as a key exhibitor at SeyBold (http://www.key3media.com/seyboldseminars/):

The decision of Apple (a traditional keynote mainstay and major exhibitor at the big publishing show) to excuse itself from the show floor and stick to a few low-profile technology demonstrations is significant in itself.

Obviously, Apple announcements are unlikely with such a low-key presense.

What has happened? Apple made some benefit in the last quarter, everything seems to be going well and now they cancel their attendance at Seybold?

Ass long as Apple is rising high they should take the advantage they have to become more popular. This would be THE major letdown of 2002 up to date! SUCKS!

I could only come up with that this is a stategic decision, but for what reason only Apple knows. At least it is a bad decision, as long as they dont give away the purpose...

I think Apple will be at Seybold. They just won't be making any keynote addresses.

This is ok, with all of the recent hardware changes, another keynote is probably pointless.

Two thoughts:

1. Apple doesn't like to get into a set pattern. They show new stuff at Seybold one year, they probably won't the next...

2. Maybe something to do with the date of MWTok having been changed? Perhaps now the events are too close together, and they would rather show stuff at the official Apple venue...
