title says it all.. don't care if it is scrached. it just has to work.. needs to include serial number and disk, thats all. honestly don't care if it is a copy, as long as it works..

you can probably buy an OEM version from newegg for $90 (XP Home), but i'm not sure what the conditions are (if you have to buy some sort of hardware with it)...its the same software...

I think, you do care. A burned CD-R of the original disc won't hurt but a copied Product Key will land you with nothing. Windows XP requires Activation, which involves calling them or processing online...either way, they'll know if two copies are being used.

I have an eMachines OEM license and a backup copy of the disc. (eMachines doesnt ship their machines with CDs it seems, but uses that restore onto CD-R crapola)

The license is legit and never activated. I got the machine, made the restore discs, then wiped it clean and put my own license for XP Professional, so the Home license has never been used. The disc is just a good ol' standard XP install, not a system restore disc.
