Some sort of sushi that tasted bad and left an awful film in my mouth that no amount of beverage could wash away. I think it was sea urchin roe. Pasty, very pasty. And worse than any insect I've had.

I used to go to a summer camp when I was a teenager, and sometimes I was obnoxious to the help. I got punished. I was fed something called kitchen gum. It was a disgusting mix of peanut better, mustard, and some other spicy substances that could probably be put under the heading of cruel and unusual punishment.

Barbequed armadillo and javelina. Growing up in Texas is a wild experience.

oh, and in australia kangaroo meat is quite accessible, hardly the norm though. not bad really. i also ate witchetty grub. it's a fat white slug, that was a pretty heavy experience, since it's still moving too.

Two words: goo balls.
A fine hippy delicacy, indigenous to the parking lots at Grateful Dead concerts in the late 80's early 90's.

onions. cucumber. about anything fried or high-fat.

all those really kill my stomach. making it normally really painful or hospital-ready for about the next couple of days - 1 week.

I worked with a guy who, when we were comparing gross-food stories, told me of when his mother mailed him a box of cookies... I don't think he was at college, it was just an apartment or something (not sure why I felt that detail was worth mentioning)

Anyway, it was just a box with a bunch of cookies wrapped in paper or something to that effect. After about 2/3 of the box, he reached in and said he felt something moving on the bottom of the box...

It's pâté, actually. And calamari.

At the Jemâa el Fna in Marrakech, I once ate two boiled lamb's brains, a flat-bread, and a bowl of escargot. To be honest, it was delicious.

i digest badly about everything.. fat messes my stomach, and so does the gluteine.. okay. i ate something like a big donut yesterday and i feel and look really crappy today. so a couple of days now with black unsweetened tea only and then to really strict gluteine free and low fat stuff (and with no meat).

some Chinese delicacies:

flash-boiled lamb brain slices (Hot Pot)
sea urchin versions of crabcakes
heaping piles of fried cicada young
fire ant soup (used as a traditional curative)
lamb eyes
spicy duck tongues
pickled pig ear strips (actually VERY common)

If you want weird food, you can't beat the chinkinese.
We live for food.
