Does your scratch disk have to be totally empty(except for video clips) in order to be effective in FCP?? Also, what do you have to do to maintain the scratch disk (defrag, etc.)

Also, how much would it cost to convert my MDD over to SCSI HD (2@maybe 40 gigs) right from the ground up...

Thanks guys :D

Your scratch disk doesn't necessarily have to be empty. I've put different types of files in mine and it still works fine.

As for defrag....I've been told to and also not to use Norton Speed Disk.

If you edit a lot, I say to just reformat it after every video project, if you don't use it that much, I would reformat every month.

So far, I've been reformatting it every month and it doesn't seem to be giving me any problems.

FYI, I'm using a EZQuest firewire 120Gig Drive for my video projects.
