View Full Version : On my way to visit an apple store - for the first time!

I've never been to an apple store before, but I am on my way
to the Houston Galleria apple store! Well, I'm on my way to
Houston to visit my grandparents, but nothing is going to keep
me from visiting the apple store. I don't know what to expect.
I hope I am not dissapointed.

I am just going to add that Austin, Texas NEEDS an Apple
Store. I have said this many times, but I am going to keep
saying this till we get one. C'mon apple, get your arse out of
Japan, and get me an Apple Store. :o ;)

Am I the only one who has never been to an Apple store?

I hope not.... ;)

I'm sure that you will not be disappointed. You will feel like you are in heaven with so many toys! Plenty of helpful Apple employees. Lots of hardware & software.

My wife and I were at the CambridgeSide Galleria Apple Store yesterday. The only disappoinment for my wife was that they didn't have a 17" PB for her to play with. Their only model was in the window on display, not plugged in yet!

Let us know what purchases that you make!

I hope you enjoy your visit with your grandparents, remember what a great time I had in my youth! ;)

There is only a 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000001%
chance I will be making a purchase. I wish I had enough money,
to buy a toy - an iPod or maybe even a "toy" computer. ;)

Yes, I worked out the chance to ~36 significant figures.

I have never been to an Apple store, either. There isn't one near where I live. :(

Have a good time! :D

If your grandparents are like mine were, they might buy you a toy! ;)

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!!!!!

My grandparents are great, but I don't want them to buy me a
'toy' because I would feel bad. ;)

don't they sell pens, and stuff like that in apple stores?

I would love something like that as a momento of my visit. :D

yeah, apple stores are great. everytime i'm at the mall i go to the apple store. and i only make a purchase 6.9% of the time. (yes i calculated it ;) ) apple store openings are amazing too, if you ever get a chance to go, they give you a free t-shirt in a tube. i went to the SoHo opening the same day as MWNY last year and it was so cool. enjoy your journey to the apple store. :)

Have fun ScemO, i think they might have t shirts but not sure, it will probably be another 10 years or before S.carolina gets a Apple Store. We are allways the last for everything. Be sure to try out that 1 giger imac. Enjoy!

I am shaking I am so anxious. Well, I leave tomorrow, so I have
plenty of time to think about the fastest way to get from the
parking lot of the Galleria to the store. ;)

While it'd be nice to have an Apple store in Austin (since I'm going to be there next year), there are only 600,000 or so people in Austin. Besides, not many people go to Austin to shop. They go to Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio. One in San Antonio would be nice, since it's bigger than Austin.

Apple really needs a store in McAllen, right next to the border. Tons of people from Mexico come with wads of cash ready to spend. Apple would make a killing...

scem0
Mar 10, 2003, 04:28 PM
But Austin has the perfect atmoshphere for apple. You always
see the 'keep Austin wierd' shirts. All the people wearing those
shirts would die to have an iBook ;) - once they saw one at the
new Apple Store. And there are so many computer companies
in Austin - well semiconductor manufacturing companies to be
exact, and that makes for good business. I think that if an Apple
store was opened on the drag (downtown Austin) they would
sell TONS of laptops to college students, tech people, and all the
people who want to 'keep Austin wierd'. And I would be there a
lot. ;).

Thats only one sig fig tho.... I'm not a fan of the Apple Stores even though I love seeing and playing with the Mac's the people there piss me off except for the genius. Each time it seems like they are trying to pressure me to buy. Even when i have things on order like my iBook I had to go play iwht one over the weekend and even after I told the woman mine was arriving on monday she was still there. Also just at the Woodfield Illinois the sales people i've spoken with are not quite as smart as the average person on this forum :)

no, it is ~36 I'm pretty sure. If there is a decimal point, all the
zero's count. There is some rule like that. 100000 is only one
sig fig, but 100000.0 is 7 sig figs. ;)

I'm sure its only one sig fig. The zeros are place holders in fractions of a whole like that. Your example is correct. I just looked thru my physics text and it confirms my assessment.

Hey scem0 I go to that exact same Apple store at least once a month.

Every time I go I walk out with something...it's not to great on the bank account....but it's Apple stuff so it's fine. ;)

Last time I was there I picked up an Airport Extreme basestation. A couple months before that my father bought a scanner and I picked up RtCW and Icewind Dale.

The store itself is a bit on the small side, but it's filled to the brim with Apple stuff.

All Apple models are available to play with. It's great fun.

See if you can pick up a free poster or two. ;)

I think your just confusing the rules. Its no big deal. I had to relearn them for the beginning of this year because my teacher doesn't grade the problem if you screw up sig figs. Most people screw up the rule of if theres a decimal then all the seros count. this only matters in the 1000.00000 where there are 9 sig figs as opposed to two in 0.000045

just make sure you seriously don't piss any apple store employee off.
Well it's probably just me but i went to the Northridge Apple Store a couple of months after it opened with one of my friends who got into this argument about macs vs. pc's with one of the geniuses and they were both pissed.
Then you can probably guess what happened...Los Angeles has four Apple Stores-and she met the same guy at three of them ;)

Ill agree to that but when i'm on a forum that tries to define a geek.... I have to say something. Good Times and have fun on your trip don't expect the fantabulous from the apple store its not quite mecca or rome.

I wouldn't call it cool.... Geeky things aren't 'cool'.

But it was definitely fun..... and very sexy ;).

I might bring my sister's digital camera and take a couple pics.
I won't be able to post for....... 3 days!!!! I know, it is horrible.

I've been to a couple stores in the area and my overall impression is one of not a retail store but more of an art gallery, interactive art gallery.

The stores are nice - but the prices aren't always the best you can find.

it wasnt that long ago that I started thinking of getting a Mac, then to my surprise I saw there's an Apple Store about 2 hours from me at the big King of Prussia mall. I went in there and played with a 15" PowerBook and I was hooked. This was on Black Friday of last year and I am getting closer to finally owning a Mac. Sometime this month hopefully. I can't wait to go to their store and walk out with a nice iBook :)

hey scem0 tell us what you think about the apple store...in the apple store!!!

scem0
Mar 13, 2003, 12:50 PM
I am on a dual 1.42 powermac, with a 23"
cinema display.

AMAZING.

The apple store is great. If there was one in
Austin, I would do ANYTHING to get a job there.
I want every single thing in here. It is making
me very jealous. Safari runs really quick (v60
if you wanted to know). No 17" powerbooks,
which I really wanted to show my mom, but
I guess she will have to see them in CompUSA
later this year. This is the largest monitor in
the world! Well, not really, but it is really big
and nice. My grandfather is being exposed to
a touchpad for the first time, and he is pretty
amazed. :D. I can't wait for apple
to release a PPC 970 powermac, they are going
to fly... I am going to buy one right away.
Unless, of course, I don't have enough money
for a good one, and in that case I will wait for
the update, which may introduce new things
other than a new processor, which would be
nice. This thing responds so well! 1 gig of RAM.
Maybe I should hook up my digital camera, which
I have taken some pics on, and post them right
now. I don't know it they will approve or not
though.

There is less apple stuff in it then I thought. They
need to be promoting iPods as well as their
computers. My grandparents are funny. They
are talking to the apple guy about the 'new type
mouse'. lol. Be expecting pictures, if not now,
tomorrow.

I'm off to preview all the computers ;).
