ok, i'm cleaning my apartment and i've decided to get rid of some old computers i have. if anyone wants to make me an offer, feel free, i'll get rid of them for free if i have to, just wanna get them out of here. new york apartments are kinda small and they take up precious space. if you want all/some, i can send it to you if you're not local, but you'd pay for that, not me.
right, i don't have the inclination to go through the boxes, but here's an idea of what i have;
2x macintosh plus (one in original box) with 20mb external hard drive and fan thing. some software and books i think. in original box too. i have the original manual and the macintosh bible (2nd edition!!!) :p
also have an amiga a1000 with 1080 monitor (in original boxes), a ton of software, books and other stuff including external hard drive...
oh, and i also have an unopened, factory sealed "Mac 110V Power Supply, Platinum" part no. 661-0462 which I believe is for a mac plus, not sure though. (it's a whole board)
i can of course split stuff or if you have any specific questions, please ask :)
(I believe everything works fine, i think i tested everything before i packed it all up a couple of years ago, but i'm not certain.)

I would love to take this, but the cost to ship it to L.A. would be more than if I just bought one from someone here. What would the shipping cost be?

honestly haven't a clue, but by FedEx or UPS Ground it wouldn't be all that I'm sure. for just the boxed mac+ i'm guessing it weighs about 20lbs... and according to fedex it'd cost about $16 to ship from nyc to la and would take about 4 days. not bad.

Hmm... $16 sounds pretty good. Only problem is that I may not want to clutter my house with more computers. Although a Mac Plus is hard to resist...

Anyone have an older PC they would like to part with. I'm looking for a compact box with at a 386 or 486 processor or better. I'm looking for something free of course. All I need it for is to upload maps into my Garmin GPS. I'll pay for shipping if it's reasonable.

If you have troubles finding people to take your old computers and related hardware, I found it pretty easy to donate the items to schools/churches/charity. Believe me, someone will take them.
The beauty of it is that you know you are probably helping the more needy out AND you get a tax deduction as long as its a non-profit organization.
So far I have donated two pizza box 6100s, a 14" monitor, and an old HP printer. I took the tax deduction for the fair market value (of which i used ebay as a reference).
One thing to remember, get a letter of donation or a receipt from the organization just in case Mr TaxMan comes knocking.
Take care all,
Jeremy
