I would assume not because the drivers would have to be compatible and when I bought my Nvidia GeForce 7300GS, I don't remember seeing a mac compatible logo on it.

no they don't work on both platforms.

the strangedogs forums.

if its an evga brand, then no, most likely not Mac compatible... unless the Rom has been changed, and resistors moved.

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for; are you looking for a Mac-compatible 6800 series card? What kind of Mac are you upgrading?

The only card that is both Mac and PC compatible is the Radeon 9600 Pro PC and Mac Edition. It's not cheap but can run a 30" ACD...

There is only one manufacturer of Mac-compatible 6800 cards - Apple computer. They used to sell a 6800GT on the Apple Store IIRC, but it is no longer available, so you'd have to look for a used 6800 Ultra/GT either on eBay or an Apple reseller...

...or you could buy a PC-compatible card and flash the rom to the Mac. Flashing many 6800-series cards requires no soldering, it's all done with software for the G5 (a slight modification is needed for use in a G4 tower). I bought an XFX 6800GS 256MB card and was not only able to flash it for use in my Digital Audio G4 tower but was also able to unlock the blocked pixel pipes and thus turn it into a true 6800GT. It has twin DVI ports and has very high performance.

Read the thread linked in my sig for more on my flashing experience; Also I highly recommend reading the Strangedogs video card flashing forum - they helped me with my flash, and are the source for flashing info. Good luck.

Yes i am looking for the Mac compatible card. I really don't feel like flashing a card but if it comes to that then i may.

also it is for upgrading my Dual 1.8G5

So yes if I must i will get a flashed card.

Oh sorry, I have a PC version :(

I dont know much of this flashing stuff but if you do want to buy it I think 100 is reasonable? I dont really know. Shoot me a PM that you think is reasonable and hopefully we can agree on something.

Again though, the card is back at the manufacturer because it crapped out on me. So if anyone was to buy it from me, it is after they replace it and ship it back to me which should be like one week hopefully.

Also this card uses AGP. Im not aware what PowerMacs use so I think this maybe important. information

I am very interested in your card Wako, just as soon as i get paid next friday i can transfer money to paypal to send it to you. Hopefully I can find some good information on flashing that specific card in the meantime. But either way i am interested in buying it.

If you do go the flashing rout, I highly recommend reading the 6800 threads on the strangedogs forum to see which brands are good for flashing. Some (like XFX) seem to be pretty flash friendly while others might not work at all. Th threads over there are a bit long-winded but very instructive, and can mean the difference between a successful flash and a fried card.

If you are interested please PM me your email so that when I get my card back from manufacturer, we can work out the terms.

To give you an idea when this might be is probably two weeks from now. I sent out the card yesterday and it is expected to get there on Friday. Which means next monday and tuesday is when they will look at the card and ship out a new one to me, which by then I will hopefully receive it on that the following friday or the week after that.

And as for BFG, they were a great company at the time but they are now just simply too expensive now with little to no incentive of why to pick one up. eVGA also has a lifetime warranty, so does XFX and their cards are much cheaper. In fact eVGA and XFX overclock their cards more and sometimes are cheaper than BFG. Case and point, my new 7900GT. My new eVGA which is OC to 500 mhz (normal is 450mhz) costs 269 on newegg. For the BFG it was clocked at 470 and was charging for the same price on newegg. From dealing with eVGA I can tell you I like them alot better because unlike BFG, you dont need your receipt to prove to them that you bought it. Seriously, how many of us keeps a receipt from 2 years ago? :P Of course I have heard stories where people just kept pestering the Tech Support guy and eventually they gave in to replace their card even for not having the receipt. However I dont feel like jumping through hoops to get something fixed under warranty.

So for this flashing to occur, I am guessing that I need a PC to do it with, Correct?

If so then i am **** outa luck because I don't have a PC and i don't think any of my friends have any AGP PCs, only PCIe

I agree with iGary that buying the Mac card is probably the "best" solution. The issue with the Mac card is that they are often more expensive than a flashed card. If you can get a Mac card at a price you're willing to pay I'd go for it.

You don't need a PC to flash the card - though that is the best way. If you have access to a PCI video card for your Mac (like the Radeon 9200 PCI) you can hook your display up to that while flashing the AGP 6800. There are also other, less easy ways.

I did my flash with a PC. It's simple enough that it could be done on a friend's computer with minimal risk.
