My father wants to send a computer to his secretary in Costa Rica. He'd like it to be a laptop, but nothing too recent. We'd like something that could run Tiger decently such as an ibook g3 dual usb or a higher end powerbook g3 and even a tibook if possible. If you could please pm or post a laptop that you'd be willing to sell and we can make you an offer depending on the model.

Also, we'd prefer no wireless since it would add too much to the cost. Thanks so much.

Please don't offer 867 tibooks since those are above our budget, but someting in the 400-667 ghz range would be great. Thanks

I was just wondering what you were looking to spend, just to get a better idea of what you are looking to purchase. Any way if you could let me know your price range, i might be able to help you out!

Thanks,
Jason

I found a 500 mhz dual usb ibook with cd-rom and a 30 gig hard drive for $250 on a mac reselller website. I guess if someone can offer me something with better specs then that for the same price or something similar at a lower price I would gladly take it.

The laptop I just posted was from macofalltrades.com, but now I feel a bit iffy from buying from them because of their customer feedback on a different site. Megamacs.com offers the same computer with a 10 gig hard drive plus airport card for 300 dollars. That sounds appetizing if I sold the airport card. If anyone has something at a lower price or anything better at a similar price please let me know. Thanks

Yea, i mean both of those deals that you found are great so if you could verify that those are legit if i were you i would grab one of those because those are just about the lowest ive seen them go for!

Not to mention that if they include an airport card you could off that for about $80-$100 depending on the buyer, further reducing your cost!

Yea, I think I am going to go with megamacs.com because they seem more reliable. I'll probably end up buying within the next week so if anyone has any offers I can definitely listen.

If you want to run tiger at all you have to have atleast 256 megabytes of ram preferably 512 and its hard to find any ibook g3 with higher than 128.

It's ok, the one at megamacs has 256. I don't need Tiger to run absolutely smoothly. This is going to be for a secretary in Costa Rica that has never used a computer before, just a type writer. She will be using 56k (if it goes at that speed) and will only want to connect to a printer. The only reason we're buying a laptop over a cheap imac g3 is because it's easier to take home so that no one breaks in to steal it.
