So the sad day has come - I'm going to get rid of my first PowerMac I ever bought.
Specs:
Rev A Sawtooth PowerMac G4 450 MHz
1 Gig RAM
2 18 Gig SCSI Harddrives
DVD RAM Drive (I'll include a bunch of blank DVDRam Disks I have)
Zip Drive (:D)
Radeon 8500 APG 64Meg Video Card (upgraded from the original)
OSX 10.3.9 and Classic
Any interest?

I might be interested. Anybody have a fair assessment of the value of this computer?

Maybe $200? I'm not interested, but that would be the range I'd suggest.

This was top of the line at the time and the scsi interface is also external for all those external scsi devices a collector might have that they'd like to attach. :D
After looking around online I'm asking $250
links to refer to:

http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/deals.html - scroll down to PowerMac G4s. They don't specify the specs on these machines, but with the upgraded OS 10.3.9, RAM and video card I'm being more than fair at $250.
Thanks,
D

I'd say with the Ram- 250 is fair if you want to wait for the right grab.. I'd consider the 250 to be soft *meaning considering a bid a few bucks below..*

$250 is really nice compared to these prices - like I said, its SCSI with dual drives which adds a bit more to the value.

Get rid of.. sounds so ominous. Like it'll be wearing cement shoes and Steve will be watching it with mild intrest.
I know this must be a hard time for you. Sympathies.

Thanks - well, I'm not using it and I'm not a collector so I have to ask myself why its sitting next to me.... :D
It is sad, but its a good machine. And someday I'll be selling my quad G5 to pay for the dual quad core next best thing ;)

Of course, if you signed it, it may be worth much more...:)

I am looking for cheap RAM for this very system if you care to break me off a piece.

If it only requires a signature to get another $500 on the deal, I'll do it :D
And I'm not really interested in breaking the thing up for parts at this point.

PC-100 and buying new would be about $120 for the 4x256 I have in there now.
I don't think its worth selling them separately - what do you want a no RAM G4 for?

No, I meant that you could sell 512 (2x256) and kept 512 (2x256) in there and I could buy it for 60$ chaeper. Nvm though, as My thread for selling stuff isnt producing enough to buy it.

I think that $250 is a good deal for a Sawtooth from the original owner. I'd buy it myself if I had the cash in hand :-/

Yes this is the original owner :D
One other thing - I have the original key board and mouse, although the puck mouse doesn't work very well. I don't have the original box.

[Personally, I hate eBay, don't trust most resellers, and I enjoy being able to buy from or sell to people who don't do this **** for a living. I'll gladly pay an extra 15-20% to know that I'm buying from the original owner, that the machine is extensively tested (in this case, for a few years), and that I actually like the guy selling the machine.

Find another machine exactly like mine for cheaper and I'll make a deal. The RAM alone if bought new is 1/2 the price ($125) I'm asking for.
