Hi,

I'm going to need to upgrade my Powerbook, so I've decided to sell it on ebay (and most likely here too), I've sold plenty of other things on ebay before (phones, games consoles etc.) but I've never sold a computer on ebay. So I'm going to post some screencaps of my auction preview page and I hope to get some constructive criticism.

One question I have is, is it better to list the full specification or just the major parts of the spec that's (like I have done)?

(oh and yes the 4 small pictures near the top are thumbnail links to the big pictures :))

The more details and pics you can post, the better chance you have of selling. The higher your feedback, the better chance you have of selling.

Just be careful not to post something that's untrue, since you're bound to the terms of the auction. :)

I would never even think of posting something that wasn't true, too much potential trouble and my conscience would keep on bugging me...

One of the best auction descriptions, everything was answered. Specs, warranty, shipping, method payment and you had good pics. Everything was layed out well and followed a logical order. Overall 9.9/10, no one can be perfect eh :p

OK care to give some clues as to what you have valued this at, and actual ebay link rather than just screen shots.

I bought an iBook G4 800mhz, 640mb ram, bluetooth & airport, 60gb HD etc. recently and hence would value yours at around £350 - 400 which is more than I paid for the ibook.

In the first pic, it says "starting bid: 10pounds"

Would it be possible for you to re-take the pictures of your PB? I'm specifically referring to the second thumbnail. For very little effort you can greatly improve the look of your PB and therefore the first impression people take away with them when looking at your PB. As you know, the first impression is often the most important and pictures of a crisp and clean PB can not only attract more bidders but may end up gaining you a few extra dollars/pounds... for very little effort.

I'm hoping for £400+ for the PowerBook.

Oh, and regarding the pics I am going to take them again, you'll notice in some pics there's random stuff on my desk that really shouldn't be there  . I'm not going to list the powerbook for another week or two yet, these pics were just done very quickly today to give some kind of idea as to how the auction would look :)

It says in the first pic that the postage is £2, but at the bottom, it says that it's £25.

Yeah I noticed that, but it's just a preview so it's all changeable :)

It looks like a nice machine and the auction page looks good. I would expect you to get in the region of £375+ on Ebay. To give you some idea of value on this marketplace I recently purchased a Powerbook 15" 1.67ghz,1gig,100gig hard drive, 128vram, Superdrive with 18 months left of Applecare for £600 cash (see thread for details). So your hope for £400+
might be a tad optimistic. Ebay is a different kettle of fish however and your feedback is excellent:) .

I would be interested in the machine if the price is right but I suspect you will stand a better chance of a good price via Ebay.

Good luck:)

I personally wouldn't start it at £10 – why not just start it at 99p? You'll save money on the start fee, and of course it's going to go over either of them anyway, so you may as well pay the cheapest start price possible, as you won't be paying a cheap final value fee! Either way, looking good. :)

When you planning on putting this up!?

within 2 weeks I'd have that kind of quid but in Canadian currency ... at the present rate a first gen PB 12" even with Combo drive goes for around $600CAN because a 1.2/1.33Ghz iBook with the same cpu goes for $600-700CAN.

I'd love to own a PB G4 but it wouldnt be frugal for me at the cost you're asking for. I'm also gonna be a first time Mac owner ... so you could get the price you're asking for some1 in the same position but locally with true quid.;)
