Hi I borrowed the leopard dvd from a friend. Don't wurry, before I get any remarks, when the the final leopard comes out I WILL buy it. Non-paid-for-versions of software are always more likely to have mistakes in them and crash.
The problem is, that de .dmg file was to big for any single layer dvd I have. So I had to burn it on a double layer dvd with a powerbook. The dvd boots up fine on tiger, I can then select install leopard, it restarts the laptop . But it won't boot from the dvd, I get a little folder with a blinking questionmark and then he boots up tiger again. It isn't so much the fact that I can't install leopard that bothers me, I can wait for the real version. I just want to know why my powerbook won't boot it. Can it not read double layer dvd's or dvd +R on startup ? Little help ...

It should read the disk fine and the final release of Leopard will guaranteed work on all supported apple machines (at least all g4 machines, maybe g3)

As for your copy, I'm guessing your friend cant lend you the disk again cuz it would be best to burn it from the original disk.

Did you use disk utility to copy the disk? it is well known that programs such as toast stop disks from being bootable, so perhaps that is a solution?

indeed that is a very good idea, burning with disk utility , haven't tried that yet. Only.. a double layer dvd kosts me 8 euro's every time :(

This is a violation of the SLA of Leopard, AND a violation of the "borrowee's" NDA, assuming he got it legitimately.

Peace
