I'll just get right into what I'm looking for. I almost won an auction for a Wacom that connected only with ADB, luckily, someone else came in and bid right before the time ran out. I didn't realize what ADB meant, but now I know it's an old technology, and not of use to me.
So what I'm looking for is

-Wacom Tablet
-6x8 or larger
-USB, USB2, or Firewire
-around $75

Can anyone help me out?
I need it for school in 2 weeks.

I have a 4x5 Wacom Graphire USB tablet. It's smaller than what you're asking for, but I'd sell it for $50. Let me know if you're interested.

$50, with what for shipping?
I'll have to investigate it a bit, but I am interested. I have never used a tablet before, so I have some questions..

-Just because it's 4x5 doesn't limit me to just working in a 4x5 area on the screen, right? Like, I could move around the screen to draw, correct? I assume the size of the pad just limits the length of your strokes?

-How well would it work with my Intel iMac? Like, would there be a lot of lag in the onscreen drawing, or would it have pretty smooth latency?

-Is it in good condition?

It would be $50 including shipping. I bought it about 4 years ago, but have not really used it very much, so it's in very good shape. I can show you pics if you are interested. I am hardly an expert on using it, but I believe you basically have two options when it comes to drawing with it. The first is that you can have the 4x5 area span your entire screen, so for example if you move the pen from one corner of the tablet to the other, the cursor or whatever tool you are using would move from one corner of the screen to the other. The downside of this method is that you lose some fine control over the cursor. The other option is to have the tablet work basically like a normal mouse on a mouse pad would, i.e. you may have to lift the mouse/pen and move it across the pad/tablet a few times to move the cursor across the whole screen. You have more fine control this way, but you have to plan your strokes carefully so you dont have to lift the pen in the middle of a stroke. I have never tried it on an Intel Mac (just got my Macbook a few days ago), but there should be no latency- I originally used it on a Dell and have used it on my iMac with no problems.

The Graphire listed on the US Wacom site is newer than the one I have, but here is my exact model from the European site:http://www.wacom-europe.com/uk/products/graphire2/index.asp

Okay, sounds good.
Let me talk it over with my friend, who uses tablets regularly, and see what he thinks. That price is hard to argue with! :)

I have an Intuos 3, and absolutely adore it. I could never part with it.

I had a graphire before it and its a fantastic starter tablet and $50 is a veritable bargain, if your not interested I know someone who would be....

you can't expect someone to sell you a 6x8 for $75, especially if it's the intuos2 line (as opposed to the inferior graphire). I have a 6x8 intuos2 with USB (2?), but upon reading that I thought, "No way I'm giving it up for $75!" just responding in case the above deal doesn't work out for you, you may have to go a little higher price-wise.

I will post pics in this thread later since there seems to be a couple interested people.

Agreed. I bought my 6x8 for $329.99. Something like 175-200 sounds like it would staart to be better.

I'm in the market for a tablet as well, not too picky as to intuos/graphire.

My last post was 4 days ago, and everything's relevant, and admanimal said he would post pics. I think I was in line. Now, if admanimal sold the Wacom already, I was unaware and an apology on my part is in order.
