I've got my original 10GB iPod (purchased Jan '03, I think - 2G?), and a pair of 20GB iPods that were given to me by my brother (one click wheel purchased Jan '05 according to Apple - lucky SOB expenses one every time a new version comes out, he 'needs' them for business travel), one of the generation that came with the dock connector.

All work fine, except I'm sure they could all use a battery replacement (he replaced the battery in one of his two, but I don't know which, I've never replaced the one in mine). Am I better off eating the $15x3 up front, or offering them for sale with the knowledge that they need a battery?

Hm, if you can get the batteries for only $15 I'd buy they, but not install them and just offer them "free" with purchase. You'll get premium offers for them that way, I'd guess... on eBay anyways, people here are pretty savvy.

The 10GB is worth about 50, the clickwheel 20GB is worth about 90, and the other 20GB is worth about 75-80.
