Hi guys,

I've just got off the phone with my Insurance company and they say I can upgrade the laptop that I get from my claim. I think it would be easier to sell a MacBook Pro than a Dell laptop so I think I'll go this route.
I'm thinking of selling whatever I get to raise money for a Mac Pro (maybe) but this could be a chance for someone to get a MacBook Pro at a discount.

I have the following options, either the stock 2GHz model or the stock 2.16Ghz model. They say if I get back to them tonight by 8pm then it should be with me by Monday. The 2Ghz model retails on the Apple site for £1399 and the 2.16Ghz model retails for £1699. The laptop would be brand new and never used. Not even turned on or the box opened.

What would be a good asking price for these models and would any of you be interested?

I'll give you £1300 for the 2.16

I'd really want £1400 for the 2.16 + Shipping. Collection would of course be ok. I'm pretty sure I'll go for the 2.16 since it seems more desirable.

I called them at 19:30 to get it ordered but I couldn't get through to the IT department. I think they're open tomorrow but it wouldn't get here until Tuesday though meaning that whoever wanted it could have it by Tuesday evening with collection or Wednesday with delivery (if they deliver in time for me to get to the post office).

I have a friend in Nottingham and a friend in Brighton. I see both listed in your Location. Where are you now? If I pay you by WU and get one of my friends to pick it up...? £1300?

The insurers haven't called me back yet and they've just closed their offices so I'm going to have to wait until Monday. I could possibly be persuaded to go as low as £1350 although that depends on the exact amount that they'll want me to pay. I'll give them a call on Monday. I'm in Brighton at the moment and collection wouldn't be a problem.

Are you looking to sell only?

I'm assuming so, but the reason I ask is I have an intel iMac and a Blackbook and I'm looking to get rid of both for a MBP.

I spoke to my insurers a little earlier and it turned out they got their quotes wrong and it was going to cost way more for me to upgrade BUT they said they can give me a cash payment instead of it all which actually works out far better for me. So I'm afraid all deals are off. :(
