So: Red Dwarf! Fave episodes? Characters?

The very first episode is amongst my favourite - altho Polymorph II is a stonker!

As for the red dwarf movie: from what i understand they ditched plans to make one when fans expressed thei disatisfaction.

The more recent series (imho) were a lot worse because they had a budget! The special effects weren't crap enough!!

Favorite scene when Lister wakes up from stasis on star bug (I know plot flaw) and he trims his fingernails in a pencil sharpener. :D:D:D

What's so great about red Dwraf are the great lines of the Characters hers' an example from "holoship"
RIMMER: Another vessel?
LISTER: Too small. (Presses some controls.) May be a missile.
KRYTEN: Impact in 37 seconds.
HOLLY: Plotting random evasion course.
CAT: What? Am I the only sane one here? Why don't we drop the defensive
shields?
KRYTEN: A superlative suggestion, sir, with just two minor flaws. One,
we don't have any defensive shields, and two, we don't have any
defensive shields. Now I realise that, technically speaking, that's
only one flaw but I thought it was such a big one it was worth
mentioning twice.

Just bought the second box set of Red Dwarf here in Japan.

Box 1: 5 disks in all with 4 disks episodes 1- 24 and disk 5 'The Smeg Ups' (out takes)

Box 2: Another 5 disks - 4 full of episodes 25 - 52 and disc 5 'The Smeg Outs' (more out takes)

All with original English or dubed Japanese (which is great when drunk). Watched the first 24 episodes back to back after work for 3 days to finish them off and will do an all-nighter on Saturday for the second box set...

That will cover season 1-8...how may seasons were there?

Red Dwarf is among, if not, the best television shows ever. I liked polymorph as well as the one where rimmer has to escape from himself. I think the best episodes were when the crew was actually on red dwarf with the rest of the crew. Another great episode is "pete".

It's funny, when Red Dwarf started i was just starting to go to pub's, albeit underage, and was convinced i was the king of cool when playing pool and keeping my ciggerete, lit; wedged in me earhole, until it fell out one day - probably while i was on the black - and burnt a hole in my shirt and singed my collarbone!

damn, you're lucky, here in america they've just brought out series one and two on dvd, and they cost a pretty penny i can tell ya. i think the next two series are gonna be released next year, then another year for 5 and 6 so i hear, or something stupid like that. hmmm, does amazon have a site in japan?? maybe i'll order the set you got. i grew up watching red dwarf and i can hardly remember a thing about it with regards to quotes etc.

iAlan, i just looked at the amazon.co.jp site and found a cople of dvds, but they look like series one and series two. can you find a link to the correct dvd for me??? I can't read half the pages as they're in japanese (funny that ;) ) even when i click "in english)
