My friend just sent me a 10 day trial for WOW. I was trying so hard to resist. But no. Now my academic life is going to REALLY suffer. :(

You have been chosen.
But I advise you take a hammer to your computer before you're sucked in.

I guarantee you that I am the exact same way, but I am forcing my self not to play (or even try for that matter) because I will probably end up dead within a few days of playing because of starvation and sleep deprivation :D

I must be the only person who doesn't like WoW. I tried the 10 day trial, played it for 2 days and just didn't like it. Shame, it's a pretty massive gaming phenomenon.

Actually, after having to quit it for a few months while overseas, WoW really has let its grip up on me. I don't even play it for days at a time, even when I have free time. It's lost a lot of appeal, I think.

Don't worry..I don't either and never will. If I see that game and its for free I wouldn't pick it up.
I have no time for that at all.

I have no time for it either.
Everyone I know who plays WoW is on academic probation and passes up getting together with people in real life to play WoW. Kinda sad, in my opinion.

I played it, got to level 58, quit for 5 months, came back, leveled to 60 and played for another 2 months or so, and have quit again. I have no desire to play it. Crappy "universe", no real sense of exploring.
6/10.

don't worry man... i don't even know what WoW is besides the fact that it's an acronym for World of Warcraft. (i think.)

I played the public beta and watched most of my friends get addicted to it. I didn't want to continue to play it with the crappy performance on my PB or pay the monthly fees. Now that I'll have a gaming-grade Mac (Mac Pro), it's tempting, but I don't want to waste my life on it. I know that if I were to start I would enjoy it.

I got a 30-day trial of City of Heroes and fell in love with the game. Probably because I'm a Marvel-fiend. Sadly, I no longer play it because
I have no interest in paying monthly to play ANY game.
But it captured my heart in the short time we had together. :(

I have joined www.clan-mac.com with a ten day free trial. Eeeeek.
Played in beta and on EU for a year and sold my account in an effort to quit. But with the 24" iMac on order and a bit of spare time recently...
Erm, can someone call an ambulance just in case?

I was an addict, but after you go a week or two without playing, whether because of travel or whatever, it tends to let up.
I'd love to be able to play again, but I just can't afford the hours and hours and hours of time.

This describes me as well. I used to be really into it, playing a couple hours a day...now I haven't touched it in so long, my subscription has lapsed.

I tried the 10-day trial, couldn't get into it. I need endings to games. I like levels to complete to feel like I have accomplished something. My roommate plays that game every night and he says they can play for hours in hopes of getting one item and most of the time it doesn't happen. I just don't understand that.
I love multiplayer games online like Halo 2 and the like, but you don't need to invest hours in it. I might play for an hour at most online, then I've had my fix and I can go on in my real life.

Playing too much is a sin! But hey, if you're playing with work colleagues, mates and random WoW friends from around the world it can be a right laugh. I play for the fun of it, not for the immaterial gains.

"Really into it" is relative. I had WoW for about a year, off and on, and I averaged maybe 2 hours a week. But my best friend bought it, and was probably averaging 30 hours a week on top of being a full time student with a full time job (unfortunately, there really isn't enough time in a week to keep that up, so he was not in school after that semester). His brother played even more than he did. According to another friend of mine's /played as of last November (we checked the week of the one year anniversary of WoW), he averaged about 13 hours a day of WoW over the first year it was out. He was literally spending more time playing World of Warcraft than he was doing everything else combined. No job, no school, just World of Warcraft and a couple of parents that didn't know what to do. World of Warcraft is a great game, and it is incredibly well designed, but in years of myself and friends consistently playing UO, AC, PSO, Linneage II, SWG and Guild Wars I have never seen any MMORPG prove so capable of ruining lives.
