The texture on the ground seems very poor in all those sceens,
and theres a lot of jaggies in the image showing link fighting the guy in armor.
Sure the game is going to be great though. 2 and half years on pre-order it had better be...

I noticed the jaggies in the images as well. But I've seen other video and photos where it is not so apparent. Should look beautiful by time we get our hands on it. And honestly, it could look like Ocarina of Time and I'd still buy it the day it comes out.:D
It's a good thing Zelda DS is coming next year. I can't imagine having 2 new Zelda games to play at once!!

Yeah the videos seem to make it look better than those screens.
Actually what those screens show is pretty poor, the colour muddiness is almost the same as what blighted most N64 titles. I know the final product
wont look that bad, but heck they could have used better screenshots, they're awful.

Wii includes things at $250 that 360 doesn't include at $300, such as wifi and a newer more advanced control mechanism. Wii will also save you $10 per game compared to the 360.

Well, even though the game will only have half the resolution our casual 360 game. I'm pretty sure it won't be half the fun ;) And might I there say the price of a console has nothing to do with how funs the games will be?

You have no idea how much the games will cost, other than possibly Nintendo's own titles. Like so many things, wait and see. Hopefully the Wii will knock our socks off with its controls, I have my reservations.

Man, I love this trailer (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=13132&type=mov&pl=game), but at the same time it pisses me off. I mean, it's blatantly cut off when you know there should be more Zelda footage showing. Who knows if it was intentionally cut like that at the end by Nintendo or if that was all they released, but it's frustrating... I want more.:( :p :D

I thought I remember hearing that TP might be more like Link to the Past.
I've reads SO MANY TIMES that there are many more dungeons in TP then there were in Wind Waker. So that means there has to be, what?, 15 or more?
Just think. If they implement the Link to the Past thing, there'll be 30! dungeons, each with a light and dark version!
Rock out loud!

To be honest I'm trying very hard to get into Link to the Past. I have this huge feeling that if I played this when I was younger I'd really be into it. I mean my fave Zelda is Links Awakening (my first one!). Though its monochrome and on such a limited machine - it feels so epic.

On topic - I've downloaded a semi-decent quality trailer from IGN of this. I really cannot wait for Twilight Princess. Recently I've been thinking about packing gaming in, what with the string of disappointing DS games, the sale of my PSP, the Cube and Xbox offering me nothing. BUT TP and Metroid Prime 3 remind me that even if gaming is 99% crap, at least them 2 games exist.
Now... back to learning the pan-pipes.

i think nintendo made the right decision to support only 480i/p resolution with their new system. BUT... i only think it's a good thing if they put in some MASSIVE amounts of anti-aliasing making it look fluid and beautiful. and i really hope it supports true 480p output, considering by the time i'll be getting one (next year some time) i hope to have a widescreen LCD TV, and 480p looks much better on those than 480i.

It does but as you also point out, a huge amount of AA is also needed to smooth out those huge jaggies you get at low res.
I've just bought a 42" lcd and i hope wii looks good on it, but 480p GC titles look very jaggy on it.

Like the huge 3D crowds in Mario Smash Football or the bucket loads of AA displayed in certain games - the Wii may be 480 but it's still got a lot of power.

True..true.. :p
I bought online. I wondered if there might be a problem pre-ordering from another country, but it did allow me to select another country, then choose an international delivery option; so everything appeared kosher.
I did notice they cover their posteriors nicely with a disclaimer in the order confirmation email:
"This email does not act as a contract between HMV Guernsey and yourself. The contract will not be formed until HMV Guernsey charges your credit card at the point of despatch of the goods. We will send you an email to let you know the goods have been despatched to you, and your offer has been accepted."

oh man, I loved the water temple (second favorite after the forest one). but then again, back when the game was new and I was in 7th grade and everyone had the game; I was the only one who didn't get stuck in it for weeks. :p

okay, enough from snobby gamers complaining about graphics.
I am glad that nintendo is making a more affordable console, rather than making a console that has the fastest processors, and graphics cards.
Im way more into this new controller they have than the graphics I've seen from the new X-box... or anything having to do with any PS.
Gaming for me has never been so much about the graphics... they help, but you're not gonna find me complaining. I still play the Legend of Zelda for NES and its still as awesome as ever.
Im glad graphics are improving, but the experience is more than just graphics.
of course, that being said, those screenshots are awesome. I know i'm gonna waste so much time playing this game!

You and me both mate. It takes 45 minutes to travel from one side of Hyrule Field to the other, on horse. It's unrealistic to travel without her (according to some Ninty guy) seeing the game map is supposed to be absolutely epic. The game also has around 100 hours gameplay, with sidequests and that. Gonna be a bit of fun this one :D
I also agree with your other points about the system. The 360 and PS3 are pushing it, hence their higher than usual price points. The only other (sucessful) machines released at them prices were the console/computer hybrids like the Commodore Amiga (europe) and the Atari range of machines in America. But they came out in an age where pure computers themselves required an extra mortgage. Affordability is great. I'm not buying the core of any system packages and as a student theres no way in hell I can pay more than £200 for a system, especially with a new iMac on the way :D

this board owes me $350. I had ignored this game for so long, never watched videos, was going to happily get it for my cube and that would be the end. But all the talk and hype and whatever I finally caved and watched some IGN demo's....now I have it pre-ordered and paid off for Wii...I wouldnt be getting a Wii right now if not for this freakin game! :p oh well, should be fun! two new systems at once yay! I just plugged in the old SNES and N64 and started playing some Link to the Past and OoT...I wanted to play Wind Waker (since I never beat it) But i forgot that i sold my cube to pay off TP! lol

This is slightly OT but can anyone tell me the differences between the gamecube and wii versions? Besides the control scheme obviously. I was going to start a new thread instead I thought I'd just ask here instead of creating yet another loz:tp thread.
Are the graphics the same or similar?
Will the gc version have the capability to run in widescreen?
Any other pertinent info I should be aware of?

Only the Wii version will run 16:9.The graphics from what I have read, look a bit crisper on the Wii version (aka the 'turbo-charged' cube), although from watching some of the videos, the Wii version has some wicked jaggies goin on...

in the wii version, link is right-handed (for better wii-mote functionality) whereas he remains a lefty in the gc version.
there really are no other differences except the obvious ones. wii will have better graphics, 16:9, and wii-mote functionality and thats basically it.

I can almost guarantee that the final build won't have the jaggies. There'd be a massive storming on Nintendo around the world if there were. I know graphics aren't everything, and I don't expect them to be everything, but we've all seen screens of what the Wii is capable of, and it doesn't include jaggies. :)

would you rather a game be too easy as such you blow through it in one day? I want a challenge; I'm sick of buying a game and being done with it within a week, and that's why I loved the water temple, and thats why I loved majora's mask (pwns water temple).

I didn't use a hint book for that game either. But it did get annoying at times I'll admit. I don't like water levels either, for the fact that your characters always moves so slow underwater.

Hmm, this ones gonna be a tough decision to get.
The last Zelda game I bought was the Wind Waker, and I got rather bored with it after about 10 hours into it. It completely lost my interest.
On another note... the water temple was hard? o.o I blew through it on the first try.

Yea I didn't find the water temple too hard, then again my fave Mario 64 level was the near identically challenged water level.

Yeah you are right.... i really do get annoyed when i rent a game for my Gamecube and i have it done 2 days before i have to return it....Thats why i like games like Mario Cart, and mario Party, and Super Smash Bros. Melee, because you can never really beat them.
The Wind Waker took me over a year to beat:o
Though it was my first Zelda Game, and i loved it.... Then i went back and play Ocarina of Time, and tried to beat Majoras mask, but since it the copy of Majoras mask was not mine i did not have how ever much time i needed to beat it...

I'm glad this is happening. I'm glad Nintendo didn't just release another OoT style game. I mean look what happened with Majoras Mask, a game that was hyped up to be the be-all sequel to Ocarina and it didn't do as well. So Nintendo have a little play, come up with Windwaker. A nice little (big) game to play along with for the time being. oh look! no loading times FOR A BIG GAME ON AN OPTICAL DISC. It was great. It sorta feels like Nintendo just said "we're ready" on this one.
Like me now. I released Sam in February to a very welcoming crowd, it boosted my position in the indie developer world. Ever since it's release I've been trying to come up with something to better it but it's only now (September) that I feel I've gathered enough creative energy and momentum to actually start the game (or when my intel iMac arrives). There's a right time for everything. I'm so glad for the TP delays. So glad this became a Wii launch title, hells if I'm playing this in composite!

I got through it just fine.
The hardest thing I remember about that game was trying to figure out how to get past a door in the first dungeon: the Deku Tree (slingshot...DUH!)

Whooley an update. I tried ordering stuff from Play.com today and they too have all of a sudden stopped shipping to Ireland. (for EVERYTHING)
With Amazon.co.uk no longer shipping games or electronics outside of the UK,
it looks like we are being scuppered at every turn...
Damn them all
Update back at ya: HMV did respond saying my credit card wouldn't verify. Whether this is true (haven't had a problem with the card in ages), or not I don't know. Chances are, they'll eventually reinstate the account and make me reorder the Wii & games. :(
