MacRumors

Today marks April 1 -- or April Fools (http://www.usis.usemb.se/Holidays/celebrate/april.html).
Rumors, and rumor sites in general tend to draw their share of "April Fool"ers. Please refrain from posting April Fools posts in all but the Community Discussion forums to prevent an overflow of these' postings.
And keep this in mind while visiting other sites on this day... :)

Just curious, is the US the same where all pranks occur upto midday on April Fools? If they're done after midday then the jokes on the prankster!

Suddenly, I can see apple releasing the "rumored" PDA/Tablet/iWhatever today.
That would a sick, sick joke.
It would make me cry.
Then we'd all laugh about how we thought we actually needed something like an Apple tablet.
Then we'd cry again....

Two of the biggest innovators in the US have merged today. Yes folks Apple has merged with RonCo.
Ron Popeil will be taking of the day-to-day operations of the merged company, and act as the head of hardware development.
Steve Jobs will remain with the company and head up the reformed Claris unit. The Claris unit will responsible for all operating system and software development for the newly merged company.
With the innovative synergies of these two companies, you can expect a whole host of new features to be included in returning classic iMac.
You will also be eligible to participate in the famous RonCo payment plan for your classic iMac purchase -- just 10 easy payments of $39.95, act now and we'll include and inside-the-shell electric egg scrambler.

Programmers and Network folks should check out todays new RFC:
RFC 3514 (http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/rfc/rfc3514.txt)
RFCs that are posted on April 1st are always good to read.

I don't know how this was missed in the rumor mill but I just drove off the lot in my new Apple iCar!
This car is great *and* it's compatible with ALL roads. I can even pull up to any gas station to refuel.
The car has two 1.43 liter engines and can do 0 to 60gb, er I mean 60mph in 3 seconds. The steering wheel is cool, it's clear plastic and says "Superdrive" on it. But strangley enough the iTunes radio only has one button but it is iPod compatible. The iTrunk is very roomy and comes with 19" rails in case you need to mount any xServers.
On the road the iCar feels great. Sure, other cars can pass me but I notice, as I keep driving, they seem to crash quiet a bit.
Happy April Fools day all!

You really need to check out the iCar LSX. There is an iMac sticking out of the iDash, which of course has the speedometer, fuel gauge etc. on the dock feature. I even got a $200 student discount on the optional iMoonroof. And the engine is overclocked to 1.51Ghz!

They did a recall on the iCar LSX fan but the shipping cost for the car was way way too much ;-)
Why couldn't they just swap it out at the Apple store? tsk, tsk, tsk...

"We at the CIA do not have a sense of humor that I am aware of" and it seems niether does Apple.
My guess is that although there are many of us who would appreciate a good joke from the orchard I suspect that many novice users might be confused and concerned. It is probably in good form that Apple restrained from indulging in the days antics. I can only speculate that many of the creative minds at Apple were begging to post the newly released "iWhateverisfunny" only to be shot down by the powers that be.

The French started the practice, with the adoption of the Gregorian calendar, of referring to April 1 as poisson d'avril (April's Fish). Thus began the practice of french schoolchildern affixing paper fish to each others' backs.

This sounds like an April Fools to me, what do y'all think?
From www.xlr8yourmac.com today
Change in PowerMac G4 Speed Designations -
In a move similar to AMD's previous change from denoting CPUs by clock speed, new PowerMacs with G4 CPUs will no longer be referred to by the CPU clock speed - instead the system's GigaFlops rating will be used. For example the dual 1.42GHz model will now be called the "PowerMac G4 21Giga". (The "Flops" designation was omitted due to that term's bad business connotations.)
Focus group studies have shown that many consumers preferred the higher number rating and many actually 'felt' the system labeled with "21Giga" was faster than the exact same system with a Dual 1.42GHz label (showing the placebo effect is present even with computer hardware).

I have recently required the iCar too, and you are right, it is great. The only problem is that you really can't refuel at any gas station. It is not compatable with M$Hess. Unfortunatly this is the only station close to where I live. Are they going to update the iCar drivers soon?

Good news! Just before Connectix was bought by "them" they made a "Virtual Nozzel" that allows M$Hess to work in the iCar. Reports show a signifigant loss in performance though.
I also heard that M$Hess gas is more expensive, lower octane and has been know to have water in it. Also if you let someone else drive your car you have to pay for it again. You may want to concider *switching* to a new neighborhood. There is a new moving company that can help "iHell2iHome" They do good work but I have heard that you can only use thier trucks for moving out of iHell. It seems the trucks will not work otherwise. Strange.

I can't believe they were so dumb as to put only one IBM 970 chip in the new iPod. I mean really, what if I want to listen to two songs at the same time??? Geez what are these guys thinking? But on a positive note they are no longer using hard drives. It seems that they have adopted the same technology used in the xRaid Extreme III. Polymer Block storage. It uses a cube of clear plastic, about the size of a sugar cube, that stores data on a molecular level. The data is written and read by a three axis laser that shifts molecules. Total capacity is rumored at 100 trillion teraquads. It is also rumored that each iPod extreme will ship with all music ever recorded on this planet. Unfortunalty the battery life is limited to 22 seconds (with the optional iReactor portable fusion power source) and the rumored cost of a fully loaded iPod extreme (with licsences for all music ever recorded) is somewhere near 60 billion dollars. I preorded mine but they say it won't ship until first quarter of 2019. Think I should cancel my order?

This page was the most notable April fool for French speaking Mac users, it's a fake Mac OS 10.2.6 leak with a lot of snapshots.
Among the new features :
- split cursor, allows the use of 2 mices at the same time.
- localization, support of Hack Da World language.
- power saving, definitively put the hard disk to a rest.
- switcher adaptation, reproduce Windows behaviours like: crash every X minutes, random data loss, allow Bill G. to access your files...
Now that its April 2nd, I guess I should go tell my Boss that that "New IS policy" that I told him about was an April Fools joke.
We're a 100% windows shop...I told him that there was word from our IS group that due to security concerns, they were going to mandate a conversion to 100% Linux & Unix based PC's. The latter being, of course, Macs :D
