Hi there, Iv'e decided to sell my beauty. I don't work from home anymore and have a maxed out 12" ibook that is just fine for browsing etc.

Im probably going to put it on ebay but was wondering what sort of price you guys would pay for it, in UK £'s. Maybe if someone makes a decent offer and is happy to collect it from South London then we could make a deal.

Its a 20" PPC iMac, Bought in November 2005, so still under warrenty I guess.
2.1 ghz
250gb HD
1.5 gb ram (not upgraded - straight from apple)

Its in absolutely perfect condition and so is the box.

I can leave Adobe CS and MS Office on it too.

Just looking for a price to sell it for and/or some offers. UK Pound Sterling.

Cheers

PS - I gathered from looking in the marketplace that Feeler means asking for price suggestions, but I have no clue so I just put it in the title anyway! :D

And yes, I know, the price I paid for it 10 months ago could have got me a 24" imac today

Hmm the problem is that the price of even the Intel 20" model has dropped to £938 (education), so the price would have to be a fair bit lower than this to sell I think. But then again you have the extra RAM and 250GB HD. I'd say on eBay maybe you could get £750-850 looking at some similar machines. It would be a bit less here on MR though...

Yea you're right. It feels like such a shame that I paid £1350 for this only 10 months ago. And now will be lucky to get £850. I know thats the way technology goes but this is such a beautiful and powerful machine is just doesn't seem right letting it go for so cheap.

I think im going to stick it on ebay with a high buy it now price and low starting bid, and just hope for the best.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah thats your best shot I think, I managed to get a decent amount for my G4 PowerBook on eBay just after the Intels came out, but they were going for a lot less in the marketplace here. You're right, it is a shame, because the G5 iMac is still a great machine in terms of performance and will be for another year or 2 yet.

Yeah the intels really put a downer on the ppc re sell value. And with core duo now being replaced with core duo 2 it looks like the 6 month cycle of processor upgrades which we hadnt had for a long time with ppc, is going to make resale value of all our macs not as good anymore :o

Best of luck with your sale, it's a lovely machine :)

I would say to expect £650. I got £580 for my SuperDrived PowerPC 2Ghz 20" Mac, 512MB RAM.
