Well. I find it odd that you would rather sell it than get it fixed/replaced by Sony. It is obviously their fault since it was their firmware update that "bricked" it.

You should probably call Sony, unless you were doing something illegal on it...

To be honest, that was the first time I picked it up since May so this thing hasnt been on my top list of things to play with. I am going to call Sony when they open (12 EST) but after reading around, it seems they arent very helpful with these situations because of homebrew.

There is nothing "illegal" you can do on it, that homebrew stuff isnt illegal, but they dont want people messing around with it and assume anyone in my sitch definitely is. I didnt have the very first unit so I could never do anything with that. I guess the first ones that came out are the ones that people were doing crazy stuff with. I had old firmware on it that does not allow you to play grand theft auto or any new games...apparently. I guarantee they cover themselves in the huge guidlines file that I never bother reading when doing updates.

My friend at the game store is calling me later to let me know if a guy there can fix it for me, if so, then I'll probably keep it, but it just seems like too much of a hassle to get this replaced, and I refuse to pay to do so. I've had it since Christmas, and I believe the warranty is only for 90 days....I guess I'll find out.

If I have the receipt (which I do not) they will replace it.

If I do not have the receipt, it's an $89 dollar charge.

Which makes absolutely no sense, because they can tell by the serial number that it is still under warranty. The unit was made less than a year ago so it's clearly still under warranty and she told me, but she said without the receipt it's an "out of warranty" warranty.

Makes sense right? Pfft....she really wasnt willing to help me at all when I explained that this was a christmas gift and chances are that receipt isnt going to be around 9 months later, but at least let me know that in a friendly tone.

So.......I'm going to try to get a copy of the receipt, but I'm not counting on it, so this is FOR SALE.

Looking for $25 shipped - firm (less than ebay - its still going for $23-$30+shipping or more on ebay.). Still $40 new.

2007 is due out in May 07...so it's not really too soon.

If anyone wants it, let me know, I'm going to throw it on ebay this weekend if not.

Also - the PSP and mem card are no longer for sale. I have a new one coming. Thanks for the help on that.
