iTunes causing GUI freeze

I have this problem every now and then where I open iTunes and it causes a GUI freeze. I can log in through Darwin and reboot, but it is rather annoying. I have repaired permissions and various other things. Does anyone know why this is happening? Do I need to trash the preferences? Or what? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a huge music library?

I can't think of anything else that would affect it at startup like that. Trashing prefs is a pretty safe bet any time anything is acting up.
