It was only last year that Capcom announced the first Resident Evil title for the next-gen consoles PS3 and Xbox 360. And now, rumor is abuzz that there just might be some big possibility that the Resident Evil 5 will be made exclusive for the Xbox 360.
Sparking anew this speculation is the absence of the zombie franchise in this year's Tokyo Game Show despite the initial press release that it will debut by March 2007. After all, if that's the case, then there's a very good reason for gamers to expect that Capcom would already be showcasing the developments in the game.
Tongues wagged over at the TGS that Resident Evil 5's absence was due to a pending exclusivity deal of Capcom with Microsoft, which is to be announced at the U.S. firm's X06 event in Barcelona next week. And as if to further fan the flames, Xbox Japan boss Sensui refused to deny the rumors. Instead, he merely said that it had already been announced for Xbox 360, and that they "are very good friends with Mr. Inafune [the game's producer]".
If this turns out to be true, then the Xbox 360 might have very well hit the jackpot, for the Resident Evil series have a broad fanbase, which will surely add appeal to the console. But since Microsoft is keen on keeping mum about it, Capcom is then expected to shed some light on the issue. Then again, all this secrecy is just adding to the excitement for the upcoming zombie game.
not a fan of exlclusivity these days, and usually what does exclusive mean? 1 week, 1 month, 1 year? but this could be a coop for M$ after the tremendous response Dead Rising recieved, M$ may have just thrown a wad of cash Capcom's way.
