I am considering finally selling my 12" PowerBook G4 (which has served me well for the past 3 years) in favour of finally upgrading to a MacBook or MacBook Pro (c'mon, Merom updates...)
I'd like to know what kind of offers I could get for my PB, either to sell here or as a basis for selling locally. I am in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and would prefer local or Canadian buyers, but if I decide to sell it and a US MacRumors member is interested I would certainly consider it.
It's the rev-B 12" PowerBook G4, 1.0 GHz.
All original packaging included.
OS X 10.4 Tiger (with install DVD of course, as well as original install DVDs for Jaguar, system restore, etc.)
iLife '05 with original install discs
AirPort and Bluetooth
512 MB RAM (2 x 256)
40 gig hard drive
DVD SuperDrive
Dongles for VGA, DVI, S-Video included
Apple phone cable included
Original battery still holds a good charge (2-3 hours probably)
Original charger + AC extension cord
Extra Kensington iJuice AC adaptor with cigarette adaptor
Neoprene "wetsuit" carrying case / sleeve included
Unit has some scuffs or small scratches on the underside from normal usage.
I think there's 1 dead pixel on the 1024x768 display, though it's very hard to tell in normal usage.
Let me know what you think!

Just as a semi-reference, I not too long ago purchased the (i'm guessing from what i'm googled) Rev C powerbook in my sig for roughly about $950. That's not an exact figure cause I traded an ibook + cash for it, but that was what we agreed on for the insurance coverage. The powerbook is near-flawless with all original docs and box.
I would say that after a quick ebay glance, anywhere from $550-$600-ish (looking at the completed auctions), though that seems kinda low personally.
Hope that kinda sorta helps.

Yow. I appreciate the opinions and offers, guys.
I was kinda hoping for the $700 range, but I guess the value of these older Macs drops more and more the longer the intel Macs are out.. Sounds like it may still be possible on eBay, but probably not on MR.
Thanks guys. I'm still undecided about whether to sell now and upgrade to a MacBook, or just hold onto this thing as long as I can. Considering Apple doesn't even make a 12" pro-series laptop anymore, and I'm not terribly compelled by the resale value...

Value has dropped very significantly. If you try hard you may get your price of $700 but I really don't think so. Good luck though. Try craigslist

I sold an G4 iBook 1.2 ghz, 512 ram, 30 gb, AE, combo drive on ebay for $600 a couple weeks ago. If you are looking to get the most out of it I would go with ebay.

Oh man, if I had the money and was allowed to spend it I'd jump at this, the accessories make up for the $700 or so.
And have you tried massaging that pixel out? Or doing flash therapy?

Isn't $750 Canadian about the same as $500 American?
I think most of the people posting here are talking
American dollars. You should be able to get $700
Canadian if you are willing to wait for the right buyer.

Massaging, yes. Flash therapy, what's that?
I tried to look for the pixel and I couldn't see it. It's in there somewhere, unless it fixed itself...

Flash therapy is playing a video that flashes loads of colours on the screen really fast in an effort to fix the stuck pixel(s).

It is kinda funny that almost every Canadian knows the exchange rate, but very few Americans care enough to actually know much about it.
I have a friend that just moved here from canada and she is pissed at how much Americans ignore Canada.

Well, the US dollar is a globally traded and therefore globally watched currency. Not sure how much of an impact the Canadian dollar has to anyone outside Canada.
After giving it some thought I think I will pass on the sale of my PowerBook... for now. If I sell it now, I would have to buy a new machine right away, and since everyone is waiting for the Merom updates, I would probably miss out. I might just wait a bit longer until the Merom MBP's come out, and then sell.
So thanks for the offers guys, and I'll post another FS note if/when I'm ready to sell.
