I actually (slap me) want the xBox 360. The intergration between 360 and PC seems like a really neat idea and it something Microsoft can deliver. But what! BioShock! Not the for the PS3! What?! I'm shocked. Man, that game is highly anticipated and for MS to wangle that one, well, that's great news for them! Ooo! And a Halo RTS, which could be really ace!

"Halo Wars" is an all-new real-time strategy game based on the legendary "Halo" universe and designed exclusively for Xbox 360 by Ensemble Studios, creators of the "Age of Empires" franchise."

"2K Games confirmed that "BioShock," a revolution in the genre that will forever change the expectations for first-person shooters, will be released exclusively on Xbox 360 and Microsoft® Windows next spring."

Yikes!

Now that's more like it. Classic Amiga games coming to the 360. A huge desire increase for the 360 in my books. Still needs a web browser (everyone else is doing it?).

Though, $200/£129 for the HD-DVD player? £50 buys you a Wii. a full 360 kit would now be (though not needed for everyone) would be £399. ~£30 short of the PS3. Could have been cheaper.

A 360 only Halo RTS? Bye bye. Am I the only person to not enjoy a console RTS game? Give me the mouse please.

HD DVD or BluRay were never a deciding factor however making it optional is a nice bonus. I'll just wait to see who wins and then get whichever format pans out. Until then its DVDs for me because they look fine to me

No, you're not. And to expand on the Halo franchise anyway is a bad idea. aside from the multiplayer aspect, Halo sucks.

I wonder if they would allow me to make a popular game....I would like to direct ICO...and the oscar goes to 2ny...HA!..I can dream.

I don't rate PJ as a director. The only bit I liked from LOTR was the Third One where some evil creature came out of the gates of Mordor. I loved King Kong at the cinema, saw it on DVD and it lost pretty much all of it's charm. Considering I was sitting there for three and a half hours with mates, it was a bit gutting.

Wii and 360 Forever!

I liked Brain-Dead, Heavenly Creatures etc.. But its "The Frighteners" which is one of my favourite films ever.

I thought King Kong was ok, but why only spend 3 seconds in New York, it would have been more entertaining to spend half the time in the Jungle and half the time rampaging and tearing up the city. I thought it was dissapointing. (even though it looked nice)

^I thought KK and LOtR trilogy was his best...besides the pretty picture was the emotions and writting that made the films so big. King Kong was awesome although some scences could of been deleted but Im glad he didn't spend too much time in New York and focus on the home of kong....better emotional background for kong and his love.

JIMMI have you heard the latest.

You'll have to get a 360 now... BANJO KAZOOIE IS BACK!!!!

The two N64 games were totally amazing with Banjo Tooie up there next to Mario 64 as one of the finest platformers ever. Shame it came too late and most people never even got to play it...

September 27, 2006 - Back when the Nintendo 64 was struggling to stay afloat, Rare was almost single-handedly keeping the console alive with a string of quality titles like Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Banjo-Kazooie. The latter, considered by many to be the epitome of 3D platforming, is being dusted off and readied for a comeback on the Xbox 360.

Rare is reuniting Banjo the bear, Kazooie the bird-thing, the evil witch Gruntilda, and other fan-favorite characters from the series and giving them high-definition makeovers. Though most of the original team has moved on from Rare, the company is aiming to retain the series sense of humor and charm.

This will be the third proper installment in the series. The original Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie were N64 titles, but the duo has also made appearances on the Game Boy Advance and wireless phones.

This is the best news ever... Along with Viva Pinata I'm totally excited about this...

The 'exclusives' announced make me wonder just HOW exclusive they are. There should write an industry law that states companies must write TIME LIMITED-exclusive or just exclusive. Unless the game is made by Sony/MS/Nintendo (or a studio they own) I won't take it seriously anymore.

Is anyone with a 360 gonna buy the HD-DVD attachment? For me, unless HD-DVD does become the new standard (which given Sony's brilliant PR, is probably more likely) I can't really see a huge reason to. Sure HD-DVD looks real pretty, so does BR, but spending ~250$ (canadian) just for that isn't cool (so...$500 for my 360, then ~250$ for my HD-DVD...$750 huh? :( ouch). Especially when in a few years HD-DVD players will probably be $300 or less so i can pick up a real player. If they were going to use it for games starting now then I might consider it more, but since they have said it is just for movies...:(

1080p and HD-DVD, seems like 360 is playing catchup to Sony (like Sony with their 6-axis controller),

Actually HD-DVD & Blu-Ray prices arent so bad. £17.99 seems to be the price at Play.com with some at 14.99 so price is quite reasonable. DVD was more expensive when it first came out.

1080p and HD-DVD, seems like 360 is playing catchup to Sony (like Sony with their 6-axis controller),I'm totally buying an HD-DVD add-on... at US$200, it makes a lot more sense than buying a standalone HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player (min. cost = US$500). Besides, I have two Xbox 360s, so it'll be easy to move the unit back and forth if I want to.

But I am not going to buy a ton of HD-DVDs until I'm sure that that format will prevail... for now, just my faves will suffice.

And do I think Microsoft is playing catchup to Sony? Not at all. Rather than overpromising (and underdelivering) like Sony is, Microsoft is INCREASING what the Xbox 360 can do... which is a good thing.

Probably £20 - 25 in some of the high street shops. You know they are always overpriced. It will take a while before online price brings them down to reasonable levels on the high-street as CD's & DVD's did.

Tesco's & Asda will probably match the online price...

"2K Games confirmed that "BioShock," a revolution in the genre that will forever change the expectations for first-person shooters"I saw the video of Bioshock and it didn't seem that revolutionary. Gameplay mechanics are almost a carbon copy of Deus Ex.

But hey, that's not a bad thing at all (I loved that game) and the graphics look very good, and the setting in which it takes place is unique and inspired for a first person shooter, so in the end, it might be worth buying.

Halo Wars has a lot of potential on paper but it just looks as a quick way to make money capitalizing on the Halo franchise for now. We'll see.

I don't think the exclusivity of those 2 titles will be a problem for gamers on other platforms though. Neither of those looks like an absolute must buy and people with Sony and Nintendo consoles won't miss those games because they have no familiarity with the Halo brand and Bioshock will be "just another first person shooter".

I see microsoft selling consoles with other exclusives, like the freshly announced Resident Evil 5. It will be just a temporary exclusive of course, but some people won't wait for it to be released on other hardware.

if you don't buy HD-DVD disc, then the format will die. I own 6 HD-DVD so far : Training Day, Troy, Constantine, Swordfish, The Rundown and The last samurai. Trust me on this, It will not get better then this. Blu-ray has nothing on HD-DVD. Even Samsung, a heavy blu-ray supporter, just announced a laptop with a HD-DVD drive.

Well since I'm getting a core ps3 in March (now they have added HDMI), assuming the cheaper model is released in Ireland I will have a blu ray player. But I probably buy the HD-DVD player from M$ too anyway, (I can trade in a few old games I dont play and its only a small amount of $ to pay extra for the add on)...

But at the moment, there is not that many films I really want on either format so it will be the films that come out, that will govern which I buy. Though I have noticed things like Ultraviolet (crap film) are coming out on both formats just to add to the confusion...

Probably. See, the thing you're missing is to someone like me, who had a 360 since launch, I'm only paying $200 for HD-DVD. How is that NOT a deal?

Plus I have a 60" HDTV, HDMI/DVI-HDCP/Component, a bad-ass surround sound stereo system, etc. Buying a HD-DVD player, even if just to fool around with a handful of movies, isn't that much of a leap and at $200, a steal.

I've had one since launch too, im just saying for future buyers, the full package is ~$750 bucks. Bummer it doesnt use HDMI since I havea spare port in my tv just begging to be used.

And technically, i suppose it isn't catchup unless it comes out before the PS3 does (then technically Sony is playing catchup), but i think its funny how everyone rips into the controller thing for the PS3 (yes, we all know it is a "hmmm hey! people like that..maybe we should do something like it too huh?") but not into the fact that MS is adding on stuff just to match Sony, would they REALLY have added an HD-DVD player/1080p if Sony didnt? Maybe in a while, but its less than a year later, they haven't even fixed the bugs with the dashboard yet for gods sake.

Wasn't it some sort of RTS 3rd person thingy? That's all that comes to mind when I think of "old" Halo.

I remember watching the original demo on Mac hardware. It looked a bit like Tribes, honestly. Definitely not RTS in the sense of Starcraft.

edit: Looked it up. Apparently it was originally going to be an RTS ('Myth in space') but by the time the first public videos came around it had been reconceived as a 3rd person action game. So, technically, it WAS an RTS at one time in its development, but never so publicly.

I am a little worried about SCDA. I love ubisoft and they have done some amazing stuff in the past but this one is being done by ubisoft shanghai and they have not had the best track record. They did GRAW for originalxbox and they have done most of the porting over to ps2 and gc in the past. Ubi-montreal is their better of the studios. Ubi montreal did GRAW x360, PrinceofPersia I believe they did chaos theory which as a orginal xbx title looked to among the best ever not only graphically but in terms of gameplay and as a complete experience.

The Shanghai studio was also responsible for Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, if I recall correctly. That one was a lot of fun…
