Apple has released updates to the members of the iWork '06 suite via Software Update. The updates include:

Keynote 3.0.2 (2.7MB) - download page (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/keynote302.html)
This update addresses compatibility for accessing Aperture 1.5 content in Keynote.

Pages2.0.2 (2.7MB) - download page (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/pages202.html)
This update addresses compatibility for accessing Aperture 1.5 content in Pages.


iLife '06 (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060928163522.shtml) was updated today as well.

Keynote and Pages are really coming along nicely, especially Pages IMO. Nice to see these updates, especially to acknowledge the recent Aperture update. Other features/updates would have been nice as well, but not a big deal...

I've been using Keynote lately for work presentations. It's annoying not to be able to give them to PC co-workers. PPT such a piece of crap, and i'd like to be able to use keynote more, but sadly it's not super useful anywhere other than my computer.

Why annoying, because PowerPoint is so lame? You can export Keynote to PowerPoint, or to Flash, or QuickTime, or PDF.

What we really need is a Windows Keynote player downloadable for free off of Apple's website. ...Apple could probably throw one together in a day and iWork sales would skyrocket (not to mention the switching potential of the Windows users watching such a beautiful presentation on their piece of crap :D).

I don't think that would work, considering Keynote uses lots of Quartz technologies, which Windows of course doesn't have. iTunes and QuickTime are different of course because they don't rely on any Core/Quartz tech.

Actually on the iBook it does not even install then. Now this could actually be smart, as Aperture does not (officially) run on the iBook G4. On the other hand it could just be a glitch. :rolleyes:

My first post here!
I use Keynote to create presentations for other users on our otherwise Windoze network. I tried exporting to Flash, but most of the nice looking stuff gets replaced by dissolves. I now export to Quicktime using custom settings depending on application. You still get the basic interactivity- and the good looks. (PPT users are still doing their red on blue ghastly designs with slide in/out transitions!)

Me too. I really hope Apple kicks iWork up a notch and makes it commercial grade in terms of speed and lack of bugs, and adds in the missing features.

iWork has the potential to be brilliant. I'd love to dump MS Office once and for all. I'm there with Keynote, and with a very, very solid upgrade with Pages, I'll be able to dump Word.

This method has a lot of drawbacks.

First, it generates huge files. All transitions are movies rather than a slide that is just rotated by a graphics program.

Second, You loose a lot of control over the presentation. Flipping back and forth between slides, cursor control, animation timing, etc.

Third, The final movie never looks as good for some reason. Maybe it is just a matter of changing parameters somewhere but my files are huge and my transitions, slides, fonts,etc. don't look as high res or clear.

I agree that Keynote needs a freely distributable player like PowerPoint has. This would allow you to send the condensed slide-only file to the OS X or Windows user and he or she would have the same control and effects over the presentation as in Keynote. QT just isn't the same as the PowerPoint freely distributed player on Windows.

Yeah...and it shows 147MB for Intel in Sofftware Update..downloading it now from software update.
