Hey gang,
I am currently deciding between TV's to use with the PS3. I've narrowed it down to A 1440x900 res 19" samsung and a 1366x768 res 23" samsung. Both are nice TV's which I can get for around $500 on ebay (the 23" is a slightly older model). I intend to use the set for PS3 and as an additional monitor for my Macbook Pro. Obviously, the 19" would make a better monitor because of the higher resolution, but I am wondering how it would fare as a PS3 TV? Does the larger size, but lower res of the 23" make it a workable compromise? Both these resolutions will scale well to 720 or 1080i correct? Which one would you get?
Here are links to each set:

Honestly, I think you should wait to buy a new TV until the PS3 comes out. They can always change specs on you and you could regret that purchase.

Hmm. If you dont mind CRTs, Best Buy has an Insignia branded HDTV that does 1080i with HDMI inputs thats 30" and 600 brand new in the box.

Having had a 30" CRT TV just like that and now have a plasma, I would not want to get a CRT again. One that size is huge, mine was 200 lbs. I would get a nice 23" or 26" LCD TV if I was looking for something in that size. Would work well as both a TV for gaming and for the computer.

Get the 23, bigger will be better when it comes to PS3.

I haven't experienced a HDTV tube TV but from what I hear they handle darker colours better and have faster response times. Plus they're generally cheaper. Only down side being their size and weight.
Hopefully someone else can shine more light onto this, but I think the PS3 only supports something like HDMI 1.3? I don't know the full details myself but one of the tech guys will probably explain this further. Which is why I think an older HDTV might not work properly for you.

anyone have any experiences with 23" lcd tv's? I've ruled out the 19" because of the problems its 16:10 aspect ratio will cause.
Thanks!

Definitely go with the 23 inch, the 19 has much worse contrast ratio.
