Selling for a Macbook:
17" PowerBook
1GHz PPC G4 processor
1GB RAM
60GB HD
Airport Extreme and Bluetooth
Backlit keyboard
Excellent (near mint I guess) condition
Um I'm wanting enough so I can get at least a refurbished Macbook baseline ($950).
To increase the price I'll include a PSP and iPod video (both with accessories). Or I'll sell the PB for around the $900-$950 area and sell them seperate.

I am wondering if the $950 mark is to high. I was checking on ebay and you can find 1.5GHz and higher for around $1300... I would be interested in this, but only at a price point of about $700.00.
Is this fair or not? I wouldn't mind feedback from other members. I have a 100% feedback rating on ebay (221 score) and could pay via Postal Money order. (don't do paypal, I got burned for $2,000 and closed my account.)

Would eBay be a good choice? There's the fees and the chance of frauds.
I'd really like to sell it here though. :(

See, your problems are that the G4 Powerbooks values are plummeting on here, and B) Everyone knows you traded off your 600-700 dollar Mini for this laptop, and now your trying to get everyone to buy it at 950, therefore making the guy who completed the trade kinda look like he got suckered.

It was his choice to trade it. He needed a desktop, I needed a laptop. He didn't want to sell it I guess, nor did I want to sell my Mini, but we don't have a choice over what one does once one gets the machine, because its rightfully that person's.
There you go.

Damn. I love the members here WAY more than the frauds who love to mess up my auctions.
:( One last chance..............

I have done a considerable amount of selling on eBay and have never been scammed. I don't understand how the "frauds" mess up your auctions...
You know not to fall for the "send this to nigeria" stuff. You can also say no Zero feedback members. eBay is safe if you play it safe.
You can get more in some cases as well. Take lots of pictures and make the auction look nice and you will get what you want, if not more.

Yes but EVERY auction I have those freakin Nigerian people stalk me and bid up to what seems like 1 million to make sure they win. That's why I like it here, there's no fees and if there ARE frauds, it doesn't matter because if they don't pay I move on. But eBay has me go through all this stuff, and open disputes and its so  . So yeah MR Marketplace is MUCH easier to work out my Powerbook's sale on.

Nigerians don't bid. They try to get you to sell outside of eBay. The people bidding are probably not Nigerians.
So wait, if someone scammed you here you would move on? But since eBay lets you open up a dispute(not at all confusing) you don't use it? Man you need to rethink this.

Don't put a buy it now and make sure to state that you don't ship outside the USA. I really don't think you'll get your price here on Macrumors as much as you'd like to. Good luck!

State Piss Off Nigerian Scammers in 72 point text and you'll be fine on eBay.

Another way to avoid scams would be to require paypal from any bidders (ie: they have to have paypal linked to their eBay account). I've been doing this on my recent auctions and though I've had some dead beat buyers, I haven't had any real scams.

I know this sounds whack but with a big ticket electronics item like a powerbook I would take it to a "sell it on ebay store" like in the 40 year old virgin!! that way if somoene scams u(them) you'll be covered

Yeah but they take about 40% of your profit, as well. Ridiculous.

i have to concur. what i really like about running my ebay auctions is being able to provide prompt replies to questions that potential bidders may have. anything that will drive up the bids.
how likely are the people at the sell-your-stuff-on-ebay places going to be able answer questions about macs, etc
i like to buy from sellers who have owned and used their products, instead of a store fronts which could be used to hawk damaged goods that hide behind the "sold as-is" phrase.
