To use Microsoft® SideWinder® Force Feedback 2 with the Game Controller Software you will need:
Multimedia personal computer with Pentium 166 or higher processor and USB port
Microsoft Windows® 98 or Windows 2000 Professional operating system
16 MB of memory (RAM)
25 MB of available hard-disk space
DirectX® 7.0a API (included)
Quad-speed CD-ROM drive
Super VGA, 256-color monitor
Microsoft Mouse, or compatible pointing device
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later browser software to view User Guide
Printer for profile printouts (optional)
Joystick is compatible with Windows 98 or later based games only

you would have to look for non-MS drivers I would think.

If it's USB, it should work just fine with apps that support joysticks in OS X. Whether or not Force Feedback would work depends on the default Mac Microsoft drivers and whether or not the game supports it.

Try USB Overdrive X if your joystick won't self-configure (available at www.versiontracker.com). I've got a Saitek Cyborg Gold USB that works spiffy - and THAT'S supposed to be a Windows 98+ and OS9 ONLY joystick!
OSX.2 now supports Force Feedback, so it's dependant on the games manufacturers' discretion to include Force Feedback drivers in their game ports - a few games DO work, apparently...
...although it's all just trial-and-error...

Sorta on topic, has anyone been sucessful at using a joystick while playing FPS like Unreal and MOH:AA? I want to but I don't know how that would work.

Funnily enough, I was thinking that VERY thing the other day...
You could have the joystick to control your movement. For example:
Y axis for forward & back,
X axis for crab left & crab right, and
Z axis (swivelling handle) for left & right.
The mouse, of course, could remain to look around with.
Still - I've just got used to the keyboard controls. So I think, therefore, I'll just leave the joystick for flight simming...

Now theres a scary thought, i cant see it being as efficent as a keyboard....

It might be less effective to use a joystick, but my problem is that when I started playing FPS, I had just broken my left arm. So I used my right hand on the keypad and used my only two smashed-together fingers (because of the cast) for primary and secondary fire. I'm right handed so it felt too wierd to use the mouse with my left hand. Since then, I've gotten too used to the way I'm playing and am looking for a movement/fire solution. So I was thinking if the joystick worked as a movement and fire setup for my right hand, I could force myself to learn mouse "looking" with my left.
I'm just stuck in a strange setup, that's all....
