once again, im thinking about going mobile, mostly because ive seen quite a few 12 inch pbs up around here. My darling iMac of 3 years is starting to weigh me down, so i think we are almost to a parting of roads.
17 in screen- flawless. no dead pixles, marks, anything. cleaned regulary.
1 ghz g4- may not be the fastest, but you can do photoshop and iMovie just fine
512 of ram- 512 internal. will accept another 1 gig external (laptop ram)
80 gb drive
airport extreme
4x superdrive
std speakers, barely used!!!
hopefully someone is like me and in love with its clean, crisp design and reasonable preformance.
UPDATE!i could have the opportunity to install a 250gb hd and a gig internal (so theres another slot user accessible for a gig of lappy ram) if theres any intrest in such a machine, let me know and i can get these components.
Thanks for looking!!! Pics-

well, i was hoping for around 700. sorry if it sounds high, but selling it would mean me goin w/o a comp of my own for a while, and 700 would put me at the point of having enough as not to scramble! lmk if im out of line there, and i will consider all and any offers! :p

plus 400 dollars? im sorry, but i find your price somewhat unreasonable, however much i would like a pb. i coudl purchase a macbook after selling this for less! thank you for the offer though!

You are definetly on the high side. A 20" 1.25ghz, 1.25gb ram, 80gb hd would be around 700, so your more like 550 tops.

I think he's saying that he'll trade you the PB and give you 400 dollars. I'm not sure though.

well if thats the case i will do it! but am i justified in my reasoning that that is far too expensive?
I don't think so, but that's just my opinion. iMac G4s are not worth any where near $700 IMO, whereas the powerbook 1) is much better spec'd, 2) is newer, 3) includes a lot of brand new components, and 4) is a 12", which are still very popular and, consequently, expensive.
Do I think the 12" PB is worth, or would sell for, $1100 like the seller is asking? No. Probably closer to around 800-950, I think (after a look at eBay). After a look on eBay for your iMac, you could probably expect around $400, some have gone for less, a few have gone a bit over that. As such, I'd say your iMac + $400 is actually quite a good deal for you.

i understand your reasoning completly. as i said, 700 is a point where i could be safe in the future. while im not sure i could achieve 400 for the trade, 300 is a number which i could scrape together. of course id have to sell my dreamcast! ahhh decisions decisions...

i like your thinking. i think i am settled at 550-600, after seeing that the ones on ebay are only 768mb of ram, it cost me 130 to buy and put in the internal ram (one 512 stick, store install.) i am very interested in trades, but the amount of cash i have is somewhat limited. keep the info coming!

I am currently working a deal with iZach for his 1.5 12" pb. this needs to go! 500+ shp takes this comp with 512 less ram in the desktop slot. if that is crucial in the sale, i can keep it in for a slight increase in price. Thank you for Looking!:D

sorry, that is just a bit out of my price range. however, the PB i was looking at is unobtainable at the moment, so we will see. is that price somewhat firm?
EDIT:i was halfway into a trade for a better specked PB (with less ram, but i was going to add more of course) for 750+ shipping.

we will see what i get sold this week, and how much mula i can free up.
Just a general question- would this be more appealing with a huge hard drive in it? i think i can get a 250gig and plop it in (or put it in an enclosure). im further thinking that i could sell the ram inside, buy an internal 1 gig stick, and leave the buyers to upgrade it all the way. lmk if that wets your appetite, and how much i could expect from that sorta machine

OMG! i just checked the ebay prices on these machines... ex:
http://cgi.ebay.com/iMac-G4-17-Superdrive-512ram-perfect-computer_W0QQitemZ170042620193QQihZ007QQcategoryZ80040QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

i took the two ending soonest (will prolly be over by the time everyone views them). but would i be better off selling on ebay? idk what the fees are, so if anyone would clue me in (i personally havent sold on ebay, ik im ashamed!!! ;p). im really thinking that this will be the avenue i will go.

Those are nice prices, but if you've never sold on eBay, don't expect prices like those. My fiance had his account (the one we both use now) since 2001, but had never done anything on it. Even though we weren't noobs, the prices we got for our earlier items were ridiculously less than what others (big sellers, mostly) were getting for theirs.. even if ours had plenty of pictures, better specs, and more extras.
Think of it this way: you would pay Apple more for a brand new machine than you would pay joe schmoe on the internet selling the exact same machine, right? Just for the peace of mind. Same thing on eBay - many bidders will shy away from a seller who is brand new, and selling a high-ticket item as his first.
eBay still might be the best place to take it, but I just wanted to give ya a little forewarning before you get your heart stuck on seeing $600+.

Thanks for the advice. the sellers of these items have 55 feedback, so i understand where you are coming from. funny thing is, this account was used to purchase a 10,000+ coffee house equipment set up, but we didnt ever get the feedback! oh well, i dont want to go out and buy a bunch of random junk, but i could use a new bluetooth headset. would it be possible to achieve a higher rating by selling some of my stuff on ebay? i will probally make a purchase tonight, and then sell some things.

You could do that, but be aware that it would take a while to get the feedback, and also that people may shy away with someone with a bunch of recent feedbacks and no history. Just something to keep in mind, good luck.

Of course you can achieve a higher rating by selling and buying stuff - that's what it's all about!
My recommendation would be to buy things that are instantaneous and cheap, though. Do you pay for iTunes songs? Perhaps buy a few codes off eBay. Keep in mind what Maxwell Smart said - feedback can take a bit of time (only in the sense that a transaction has to be completed before feedback is typically exchanged. So, if you buy something that needs to be shipped, often sellers won't leave feedback until after you've left feedback for them and everything has gone well.. which isn't until after you've actually received the item). Some sellers will leave feedback right after you've paid, though - just don't count on it.
