Well it's early in the morning but by my calculations, a petabyte is 1,125,899,906,842,624 bytes so 29 is 3.676186771475307e+31and if your average song is 4.5 megs you will get 6,919,669,561.444 songs on there. :D Oh you have to love too much free time. I hope I'm right.

Well, it is a tape library. Not sure I would want to keep my MP3 collection on it. It is like a giant DAT machine. Also note this:
calable and highly flexible in design for storage applications up to 29.0 Petabytes (compressed) or 11.2 Petabytes (native).

Since MP3s are already compressed, you would only get the 11.2 Petabytes of storage. (only - that's funny). I would get about 8 or 9 Xserve RAIDs and a cluster Xserve, a fiber channel switch a rack and a pdu instead of the Sony deal. Give me online storage.

i like the whole aspect of .444.
it's like its going to have to be a song at about a minute and a half.

hmm I have plenty of songs that are under a minute.....
anyways, outside of serious medical, scientific or government uses I can't imagine anyone who would need that, or afford it.
