acronyms drive me crazy...especially on computers

i learned here that lol and lmao are similar acromyms people use in chat rooms and email conversations...but rarely in real conversation

i know that MCSE is a microsoft certified systems enigneer which really means microsoft certified professional - systems engineer (that's what the diploma says), which really means that you are, at least on paper, better than a regular systems engineer/network engineer and qualified minimally at best, to be a systems administrator, or what we now call a network administrator or GOD...often that person is also the CIO and in a small company, but also the CFO, COO, CEO, and owner of the joint...but in a large company with a huge high tech budget, it helps if the CIO is a CPA or MBA, who then will likely know nothing about MCSEs

but what is an MCNE?

what is a CISSP?

what is a Compaq ASE?

and what is APP enrollement kit?

i am sure y'all can come up with others

I used to be really down on acronyms, but then I started text messaging.

LOL, IMO, 4, 2, l8er, U, C, B, l8...there's like a hundred of them out there. And they are all surprisingly useful when you have to type on phone keys. Prevents the carpel tunnel from taking hold.

there's an internet acronym thing for X11 somewhere...
anyway IMHO (in my humble/honest opinion) i love ADC...it could mean two things that are totally different...apple developer connection or apple display connector...

I agree. We have to keep it on the QT, otherwise MS might FUD and EEE the idea away and put it into XP. Then we'd be stuck with IE reading how APPL lost another bit of IP and couldn't use the DMCA to get it back.

Then we'd be stuck with slow MoBo's producing less MIPS, FLOPs, and Mhz in our CPU's, GPU's and FPU's for OS X regardless of the goodness of the OSS parts.

At least we would have to worry about resetting out PMU's.

Hey I am in the National Guard along with my civilian teaching job and you have not seen acromyms until you deal with the military, heck I am always looking up things, actually the US govt in general loves acromyms...

thanks for the advance warning... i almost joined the navy reserve as a Lt jg, direct commission, but i opted for a GS equivalent at DMDC at DoD West, but being in optrans, there were almost no acronyms except when i had to deal with DFAS

plus, i get seasick and didn't believe the recruiter's promises that i would always be on shore:p
