I'm looking at getting a projector, but I can't afford a new one, so I'm going to try to get a used one. This will be strictly for watching movies and connecting to my computer to play around...no business presentations or anything.

Therefore if you have a projector that's old, large, and not so good, that's exactly what I'm really looking for. It doesn't have to be super bright, heck I don't care if the resolution is 800x600!

One of the ones I would LOVE to have is the CTX (or Optoma) EzPro 550. If you have one of those, that would be amazing, so let me know!

Anyway, if you have anything you think I would like, just PM me or post here to let me know.

Thanks!

Ok, so I figured out that the projector I really want was manufactured under a bunch of different names. Here's a quick list of the projectors that I really would like to get, however I will consider any offers for other ones:

CTX EzPro 550
Optoma EzPro 550
Lightware VP800
Proxima LB30
Dukane ImagePro 7200

InFocus LP760
InFocus LP570
InFocus LP560
Proxima LB10
Proxima LB20

Thanks!

I just sold my Infocus LP560, which is was what you would have loved. But You shoudl know, many if not all of the projectors in the lower price range are in fact 800x600. Good luck!

Darn it. :o I'm fine with 800x600. A bunch of the ones I listed are 800x600 native but can accept 1024x768, but I would settle for one that just does 800x600.

May I ask how much you sold it for?

Thanks!

I don't have one to offer (I like mine to much!) but I wanted to make some recommendations... you can get an InFocus 4805 pretty cheap on eBay, and it's a TERRIFIC PJ. VERY well though of in the AV crowd for DVD and other SD content.

Also, check out lumen labs. It's primarily a site that tell you how to BYO a PJ, but they offer an OK one for very little, especially when you consider how cheap the bulbs are for it ($30 vs $200). They're site doesn't seem to mention the premade PJ, but here's some info on it. http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/08/new-lumenlab-1000-lumens-projector-on-the-cheap/

Good luck!

I saw that lumen lab one for $499. That's more than I can spend, but that's incredible with the TV tuner and stuff built in...I found it on their site the other day, kind of hidden, but it's still only available for pre-order.

I've also considered building my own, but they all turn out kind of big, and I really don't have the time right now during the school year to do something like that. :p

The reason I have the ones listed that I do is that the bulbs are cheap, that's where I got the list from. That and I've used those most of those models so I know they're good stuff.

It was prettty banged up, and I threw in a mounting bracket, and I sold it via craigslist for $100 even. Pretty good on my part I would say as the thing was HUGE and only ran at 480x something native :( Good luck with the search!

Ah, that's a good price though.

Anyway, I'm not having much luck, mostly because there's a very limited number of these things still out there I believe. Even eBay only has a handful listed right now.

Tiger Electronics' ZoomBox is $250, but the resolution is like NOTHING and it's 8 ANSI lumens....that's ridiculous...

Anyway if anyone has an older projector, PM me or post here please!!!

Yeah, but the case quality was poor, and it is years old. But anyway. Try calling some shops around that carry them. Sometimes they will have deals on demo, used, unclaimed repairs etc. Just a thought.

I had one of those about 4 years ago (right when the original xbox came out) and we played the hell of it. I sold mine for like $600 back then so today it should be pretty darn cheap.. but overall it did a nice job.

I have a BenQ PB6100 that I am listing soon on eBay. It's not listed on your projector preferences, but it's a solid unit. I've used the bulb in economy mode exclusively and it only has around 200 or so hours.

What price range are you looking at? I also have the ceiling mount kit I could throw in as well.

Funny enough, when I was google searching for the VP800 a few days ago, I found your for sale post. I thought maybe it was recent, but then I realized it was from 2002, haha! Yeah, with the low resolution and old technology, they're going to fairly cheap these days!

I'm not sure how much that would be worth. I see on projectorcentral that it retailed for $999. How much do you want for it? :)

Just an update: I'm still looking for one of the models listed...

casparro decided not to sell his VP800, which I totally understand :). He seems like a great guy though!

But anyway, still looking! Let me know what you've got!
