If the disk space is too little, upgrade to a bigger HD.
If the memory is too little, add a bit more RAM.
If the processor is too slow, then it didn't get any slower today because of the new release and you should have bought a faster machine right away.
But the nice thing is that when you're due for a replacement machine in a few years, you'll have something far better than the new C2D MacBooks released today.
If you had bought the old MacBook yesterday or last week, I would feel for you, but not if you've lived happily with it for a month.

Yes, I hate when Apple provides a better deal on a new computer - that sucks.

What exactly do you think they're going to do for you?
"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry we've updated our lines. How inconsiderate of us! And without asking you first..! Shame on us - we'll ship you a brand new one right now!"

"worth a shot"? On a laptop you've had for a month? Perhaps if you'd made the purchase last week, THEN you'd have a leg to stand on.. But whatever, I guess you can't get what you don't ask for.

How did you order it already? The store still says it's being updated when I check. I just checked like 3 minutes ago too.

Sorry to rail on you (actually, I'm not)
...but why the heck do you think you're entitled to a free upgrade to the latest/greatest model? WTF? What company does this? Can you name me *one* electronics company that gives their customers free upgrades when a new model comes out? I'll be waiting...
P.S. If Apple concedes even one iota to you (which I doubt they will), then I will consider that you are costing me money, since you are costing Apple money for no justifiable reason and ultimately that cost gets passed down to the consumer...

Are you lying to them? Because I really don't see how you could expect anything unless you are out and out lying. And even if you lie to them that your MacBook is defective or something, at most they would replace your machine with a refurb. Core Duo model, not with one of the new Core 2 Duo models.
P.S. For the love of God please stop posting about calling Apple Care to get a freaking free upgrade. It's just raising my blood pressure. And I know if I don't wanna read about it, then I should just not read the thread. But this is just so unbelievable that I can't help myself.

it appears to me the only true difference on the base model is the processor.
i'm still happy with mine. i'll be happier when it comes time to get a new iMac or MacPro and those have better options...

This sucks. Now Apple will have to sell your old computer as a refurb., costing them several hundred dollars for no reason. It's just sick. The 14 day return policy is very clearly stated. I can't believe that Apple gave in on this.

Perhaps I should ring and demand a new MacBook Pro since mine is now about 8 months old and they have recently released the C2D. Woner if the fact that I dropped it in Dover and it is slightly crumpled in one corner will make any difference.
On second thoughts, I'll hang on for Santa Rosa. Anyone know when that's coming, it must surely be any day now. ;)

Congrats! I side with you fully on this. It would be a different story if they bumped up the price along with the new specs, but they DID NOT. I paid $1,800 for my brothers macbook with all the extra options that come standard now a month later for $1,500? How does is that righteous of a company to do? It's not and that is why Apple is doing this for many customers, including dreamer.
