I've just remembered how awesome WA was, does anyone still play this? Anyone wanting to dust down their oversized cardboard boxes and have a big MR online match?
I know the servers are still going strong so it's all possible.
Anyone be up for that?

I would seriously be all about that! WA was my favorite game back when it came out and one of my all time faves- used to play it online every night with some buddies. I'd have to dust off some of my roping skills- but I would sign up for that!
Didn't know it was available on the mac- now I must go look for a copy!

I didn't know it was on the Mac either ;) I'm talking about the PC version. It's great now, back when I first got it my PC would only run the game in 640*480 smoothly. Now I'm in 1680*1050 and it's smooth as, and has a similar scope to pre-Worms 2 games!
So we have 2 teams now

ahh... I assumed you meant it was on the mac. I will have to look for my pc disc when I get home tonight (I should still have it) and give it a try in bootcamp.

Jimmi - heres' the info about worms HD for xbox live arcade to the Arcade.
ILoveXbla.com found some interesting news on Team17 fansite Dream17 concerning a rumored Xbox Live Arcade port of good old Worms. Apparently the guy that runs Dream17 bumped into Worms producer Martyn Brown during the 2006 London Games Festival back in October and Brown told him that “Worms HD is now complete, and it’s just a matter of Microsoft releasing it”. Bombs away!
It remains a mystery why MS hasn’t said anything about Worms HD but it could be that they plan on doing a surprise release like they did with the Xbox Live Arcade release of Doom during X06. As far as we know there aren’t any big events planned for the remainder of 2006 besides the Wii and PS3 launch, Christmas and the Xbox 360’s first birthday. All we know for now is that Worms is awesome and that it makes perfect sense to port it over to the Arcade.
Which version of worms it is is ? It may be an amalagmation of all the 2D ones..

I think they need to bring back lemmings as well

Lemmings? Only ONLY 2D and with a Mouse. Lemmings 3D on the PS1 sucked grapes and every non-mouse iteration has lacked... well... mice.

It could work on wii though.... wii remote might work well for it as it would be uber responsive.

I get WA to run under WinXP, but it's kind of a hit or miss thing. Sometimes it runs fine, other times I get screen color glitches. If you do a fresh install of WinXP and don't get any auto updates should run just fine.

Has anyone gotten this to work while running Parallels Workstation? It appeared to install fine (Windows XP SP2, no other updates), but the game does not open when instructed to. Does it work in Boot Camp?

I don't see why it wouldn't run in Boot Camp.

Worms runs perfect in Bootcamp (why wouldn't it? It's a Core 2 Duo PC) but I'm having trouble running it in Crossover. Game installs, just doesn't get to the running part :D

I could never get WA to run on XP as well ... and I tried everything. It would only play the after the first time I installed it and only the first time I played it. After that just errors. Boo, because I loved to play my brother-in-law.

There is an XP patch floating around somewhere. If I can find mine I'll upload it. Works a treat :) if only Sim City 3000 would work on my system!

Andrew summot-or-other? I've got this distant memory of Worms being coded in AMOS by some guy named Andy. could be an urban (rural?) myth though!
