I think it'll go like this:
Carmen
Trenyce
Josh
Kimberley
Ruben
Clay

I want this to happen:
Carmen
Trenyce
Josh
Ruben
Kimberley
Clay

Don't get me wrong. I think Ruben is great...but he doesn't vary his style at all. Every week he sings like he's impersonating Barry White. Clay's got an amazing voice, and so does Kimberley Locke.

I think we all agree that Carmen needs to go tonight! She sounds like any other high school choir girl. Maybe with time and practice, she'll get better. But right now, Carmen doesn't have what it takes.

I'm with you all on the bottom 3:
Carmen, Trenyce, Josh

The top 3 is really going to come down to who performs best night-to-night. Clay and Reuben have been consistently good, but K. Locke seems to get better every night. It's too close for me to call...

ohhhhhh

so NOW you watch it???? uh-huh...

clay has always been my choice to win. i don't think ruben is gonna go the distance, but he has a great career ahead of him i am sure. carmen will probably go tonight but i'm still hoping josh does. i cant STAND his voice nor can i stand his inability to perform. trenyce and kim have been a tossup, but if kim keeps bringing it, she will give both clay and ruben a scare.

while i do see some possibility of kimberly going the distance, i think the most highly unlikely scenario is having rueben and clay get voted off this week and next week

Yeah, it's definitely Carmen, Josh or Trenyce going Bye-bye tonight...if I had seen last night's show I could tell you who I'd pick for sure, but I'm saying Carmen tonight just out of general principle. She's a one-trick pony who's been ridden way too far in this competition...

I'm so ashamed to admit that I've actually watched the show... :p Must be temporary insanity.

I hope Studdard wins. He's a big happy teddy bear of a guy and he has a great voice.

Paula Abul's hot.

I completely agree with you. Last night, Carmen's performance was horrible. It was really funny, because she said she picked the song to show off her "amazing range", but the song just proved how horrible she really is. She's one contestant I'm not going to miss. I think Josh will probably go after Carmen.

josh's voice effectively cracked during the song... and was screwy throughout... that said, he was kinda going off from his normal route. and i think he's more talented than carmen. but, she's a tramp. so that's hot.

Word. We can find some non-singing roles for her at PU...

Tonight, I think that Carmen will get out. Then, next week I think that it will be Trenyce that gets out.

I hope that Clay wins it all.

carmen
josh
kimberly
trenyce
ruben
clay

i think josh has to go, maybe even before carmen. i think he isn't as good as anyone else, and the only reason fox is keeping him on the show is because he is a marine, and they can't kick him off without being called unpatriotic. hands down, clay wins. ruben is good, but every week he sings the same stuff. clay's voice is much more moving.

I can't not post in this thread... :)

I'm still in awe that Carmen and Trenyce made it back to the wild-cards, much less this far. Carmen sounds like she has a bird stuck in her throat, Trenyce is just boring. And Josh sucks, what is up with him still being around? It amazes me that fully half of the final six have very little talent. How exactly did that happen?

I pretty much agree with everyone, except for the Clay bit. I think he has an amazing voice, and at the outset he was my favorite, but now I'm leaning towards Ruben. Clay's too Broadway-ish. Plus he flirts with Ryan Seacrest a bit much... :D

My money's on Carmen going home tonight.

Howdy, stranger! ;)

I think the whole talent vs image thing has a lot to do with those 3 still being around. Simon said it early on in the auditioning, but there's a big split this time between image and actual singing ability.

You look at Clay, Reuben and Kim and you say "Damn, can they sing!" but I can't really place them on an album cover or poster as a pop star. Carmen, Trenyce and Josh fit that cookie cutter image pretty well, so that's why I think they're still there.

Hell, I was shocked when Vanessa got voted off the first night...that was just wrong. I think she was too far out there, image-wise, for people to vote for her.

Howdy yourself! :D Rower, I got your email a while back, I'm sorryfor not responding. I'm still pretty antisocial these days, but I can't help but get a little talkative when the subject turns to TV. :)

Good point on image vs. talent. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're going to get both in one person this time around - although I think Kim and Ruben both have a certain appeal.

I too was shocked and saddened to see Vanessa go - I thought she was awesome.

I really didn't like Vanessa. I didn't think she was that good, and I didn't like her look. Sorry Rower! :)

Vanessa reminded me of a Kelly Osbourne wanna-be. I think that's the main reason I didn't like her.

i think, no matter what, josh gracin can become a country star

as for other music stlyes, he lacks...but for country, he is amazing...like the song by the same title when he sings it:p:D

I agree that Josh sings country music really well. I think that he is all right in the other genres, but I think that some of the other constestants sing other genres better than him.

Yeah, Kelly Clarksons CD debuted at number 1. But, that doesn't make someone a superstar. We'll see how long her CD stays on the charts.

Madonna's new CD came out yesterday, and I have a feeling it'll knock the American Idol out of first place.

god damnit, why does everyone like rueben?!??! And why
the hell was Simon telling Jashua Gracin to lose weight?!?!?!
Rueben can sing pretty well... that's it. I don't like this any
more than y'all do - but there is more to being an american
idol than how well you sing, no matter how shallow that seems.
That is why Clay, Rueben, and Kimberly Locke shouldn't win. :(
I sound shallow (And I am to a certain degree) but America is
shallow, however sad that may be.

That's why I think Kimberly Caldwell should have won. She was
beautiful, had star quality, great voice, etc.

I don't know why Carmen made it this far - she sucks. She is
young, and she needs voice lessons before she starts trying to
become a star. She sounds like a dying goat. :(

Rickey is only mediocre. Doesn't really have star quality. Not bad though.

Jashua Gracin is good, but he's not THAT good. No style, and
nothing too exciting about him.

Trenyce is who I think should win as of now... She is spunky,
good looking, nice, and has style. I would prefer Kimberly
Caldwell to win, but she is the best (not singer) idol out
of the remaining contestants.

Sorry for that shallow post :( - but this is not a singing contest,
this is an 'idol' contest. ;)

i don't think that was a shallow post at all. i liked kimberly caldwell, and i think she should have made it farther than both josh and carmen. ruben is ok, but he's not as good as clay is. even though the show is called american idol, one of the main qualifications is the ability to sing, and to sing well, though.

phew, I was expecting to get flamed. :D. Well, Clay IS a good,
consistant singer, but do you see him fitting in with the rest of
the stars of the music biz? I sure don't. People I could see fitting
in are:

Trenyce
Carmen (but she can't sing, so that's too bad)

shoot, that's it... :o :p ;)

i watch it and i admit, it has to be the most canned thing i have ever seen...cheesy at best

but watch a few, and it will draw you in

the judges, while experts, only say stuff to contradict one another to make it "spicy"...watching them disagree is more fun than watching the singers...and simon the judge is the bad guy and he insults the singers even when he tries to compliment them

i liken it to the 70s with donny and marie hour

jefhatfield
Apr 30, 2003, 09:18 AM
wow,

trenyce really stepped it up and i thought she would be the next to fall

i think she will be safe tonight but i think josh gracin will get voted off

kimiberly locke was hot and cold and she may be voted off next week unless she improves her act

again, clay and ruben were great like usual

unless, ruben really screws up, i think he has won the competition...at least the judges seem to think he's winning...simon is not seeming to be into kimberly at this moment and he seems to like clay less and less every week

update: well trenyce got voted off and ruben, of all people, got voted into the bottom two which is a shocker

jefhatfield
May 10, 2003, 12:04 AM
wow, now it's down to ruben, clay, and kimberly

josh got voted off

i think kimberly will be the next to go and it will be a real close one between ruben and clay

simon cowell the judge was right when he said kimberly would surprise everyone and challenge ruben and clay

I think Clay had the best performance on Tuesday, but Reuben was better over both performances. It's going to come down to them.
