View Full Version : Evaluate My New Site
Wes

I was just sharing my joy of having a brand new site design. It's interactive with a live chat, and other features (you can play with those when you get there;)). It would be greatly appreciated if you could post what you think of it, if that's not too much to ask. You can use the contact feature on the site. It was made by another macrumors member, megaquad. Enough talk, here is the site
http://www.tyui.com.

Wes, I'm really impressed. The site interface is great! The page transitions are especially enjoyable. No, I'm not just trying to be nice. I really do like the site.
Only problem: After a while, I wished the car would stop racing around at the top. It was a little distracting while I was reading the rest.

Not bad, not bad at all.
So did you do all the flash yourself? What are you incorporating to get the messages and blog? PHP or just text files?
Nice work,
D :D

Nobody has worked this out yet, but if you click the "add your quote" thing you can change the grey header text (Under Wesley's Homepage) to whatever you want, for the whole world to see!
Glad you guys like it!

Well, if you ask me yeah all by myself :D

Both pad and blog are made with PHP.
Msg pad has also these cool features:
-it automatically converts link to hyperlink.. underlines it, changes color
-it has bad word filter
-ServeBot has these nice commands: /country, /IP, /agent, /bot, /info etc.
-it also has secret command to delete msgpad database :D

ah, so you did the site not Wes? I'm a little confused.
I've played with some php/MySQL with flash but not all that much, huge potential there.

Good job Megaquad! Nice! I think it's a real winner, Wes! Best of luck!
:)
P.S. On one hand, I'm wondering: what is to prevent someone from using any of our usernames and pretend to be us on your site?
Identity theft is an issue, isn't it?

hmm... but you can come on any chat in the world and put username of anyone from MR. I dont see reason why would someone do that.
but i think it could be solved with registration..but people wouldnt bother registering for personal blog site ;)

That's true. What I'm saying is that if I understand the website correctly, there aren't any account options. I could go to the website and enter my name as, GeneR, for that day. But tomorrow someone else could use the same name, GeneR, on the same website.
Is that correct? Maybe I did not look at it correctly.

yeah that is true, no account options because this is personal site and i think people are too lazy to register for such thing.

Too funny! :D I guess scem0 has decided to corrupt his sister by bringing her on into Macrumors. Ah, how fragile is youth! :D

Very nice, just change the car so it doesn't move! Distracting...
Very nice integration of Flash and PHP. I'll have to get a copy of Flash and play around with it... :D
Nice job, Mega.

i kind of like the moving car bit
...at least it is not spinning in circles like scem0's old avatar that makes it hard to read anything on the same page:p

i know i don't like motion that is in excess
how do i know that?
as a kid, i hated windy car rides and especially that ride at the carnival that went in circles or any ride that went in circles...as a young adult, i opted not to go to the navy but to the civilian defense sector on dry ground, thank you...and as a middle aged person, i would go on this site which is full of immature teenagers who like to taunt old people like me and know that spinning avatars will send me to the medicine chest to take a couple of excedrin for the splitting headache that is caused from looking at such a moving object;)

Good clean front page. I like the mini footage. A mate of mine was a stunt driver in the Italian Job. The loop would bug me if I were to spend too long on the front page, but as it works quite well as the bait to get you to head into the web site, cool.
I watched that video of the MS CEO, I was laughing so hard at the whole thing. Just ridiculous, but the clincher was when they applauded and whooped when he was struggling for breath after a 60 second jaunt around the stage. Please, he might love the company but he isnt going to be around too long to enjoy it if he's in that bad shape.
