This place gets really bogged down during crazy events, I'm glad things are back to normal today! :)

It happens that way everytime Apple makes an announcement...we get the low-bandwidth version & IRC chat...then the Macrumors chatroom pops up on AIM.

look on the bright side...it only lasts for a day...;)

it was a nice day yesterday (in nyc at least)... maybe slow traffic is a good reason for some nerds to get some sun??? ;)

I'm also happy to see Mac Forum back to normal today! :) For me the site was down until ~2pm, then it was still very slow. IT caused my IE to crash twice, but not my Mac! :)

Ha, I was stuck at National Airport at the hangar working - no connection there to the net - so I didn't miss a thing ;)

I wonder if WWDC will be an even bigger problem?

If they broadcast the WWDC to my local Apple Store, think I will be there no doubt!

ah... but don't you think those event days are kinda fun/exciting?

This one was particuarly trafficed - I imagine because there was no official stream. Everyone was trying to get info from whereever they could.

I am glad that everything is back to normal, but I liked the announcements...so I just tried to ignore the traffic. :)

It is kinda fun, but it becomes a little too much when you can't get to any info. The hustle and bustle is nice though.

we had some fun arn, and maybe a suggestion for the future. We set up an iChat room called mrevent cos we were getting to annoyed by all the business at the IRC server. then we had people coming up with stream addresses and everything, somebody was jsut coppying everything from the IRC text stream as it got updated before we all found a stream. It was actually an exciting hour or so. best event yet, tho I wish I oculd've seen a stream from the start.

Maybe you should advertise an ichat room for future events?

It wasn't acting slow for me... But then again, I got on once at
6:00 in the morning, and once more at 10:00 PM.

this site is sporadic for me quite frequently, regardless of traffic. monday really wansn't that bad, in the evening/afternoon. i was able to refresh the low bandwidth site easily at 12:00 pm from school too. all the other sites it linked to, though, were bogged to all hell. it was an entertaining day, and one to remember. but if every day were like that, it would get boring.

one thing that's kind of disappointing is that i haven't seen any interesting new threads since monday... it's all iTunes feature this, have you bought music, how does AAC work... i dunno. it's ok, sure, but i wish someone more creative than me would post something more interesting.

MacRumors was acting like a scorned mistress yesterday... just kidding! :D How would I know that? I wouldn't know that. Would I know that? I don't think so...

Just glad things are back to normal. :D

The announcement days are exciting... and many Mac sites get sloooooooow.

Droves of new members seem to appear in the forums after major announcements, which isn't a surprise. This month's crop of incoming freshman has seemed particularly polite and astute. There seemed to be more sharing of ideas/experiences/questions/answers and less arguing/complaining. Nice.

in my opinion, the iChat room couldn't handle it. (as an official location)

There are no moderation capabilties, and at the peak there were about 900 people on the irc channel.

There is no web-side IRC chat? I thought I went to a site where they had IRC built into the web-site...

I mean IRC (one would think) wouldn't hog bandwitch too much.
