lol, ahhhh school. This will prolly get wastelanded, but its fun.
I used to love 'hacking' (Used VERY loosely) the network at school, got expelled 3 times. :D
Anyway, try using a Web based proxy. Google will help.

Unfortunately, you won't get too much help here in circumventing the security (right or wrong) set in place by your school.

yeah, school blocking is tough. We don't have google AT ALL.

we used to add an 's' to the end of http(s) that would work on a few sites
or just google "inurl:nph-proxy.pl" and u should be set

well at my school in the uk we are banned from loads of websites even this. however a website called http://maskedsurf.com/ allows you to go through the blocker. just enter the web address in the box an tada! you have internet untraceable to any website. However it doesnt seem to be working at the moment but usually does.
edit 2: actually just doesnt work with safari

Ask the member here with experience in what happens when you hack the school system.
Not much fun if you get caught.

But, these tend to get Wastelanded...
Though PC sites tend to be more free with info on hacking your way around the various school blocking methods.

Use Altavista Translation from any lang --> English. Works like a charm. Actually, I know several separate ways to take over practically any computer in my school. Buuut...a friend got his account suspended for doing it. Oh well!

My high school is like that too, and some of the sites that are blocked, we have no idea why they would be. The Google prefs are blocked for "adult content", Babelfish is blocked for the same reason, but thankfully this site isn't blocked :D. If the filter (websense) finds the word "proxy" in any page then it'll say that it's blocked "keyword found: proxy", and they also have a list of proxy sites blocked under "proxy avoidance". They busted a few people in my computer class last year for going on proxy sites, although for some reason I wasn't, even though i was on one too. Maybe I was just lucky. ;)
try using ip addresses instead. ie instead of
http://www.google.com
use
http://64.233.189.104/

what i use to do at my school is i would open a command window and ping hte website i wanted to go to, then take the IP address and paste it into safari. and 99% of the time they only had the domain blocked and not the IP.

when i was in hs (2 years ago) the ip thing didn't work.
i did the google proxy thing, which worked every time, occasionally they would block the proxies we went to since everybody in the class was on them.
i also set up a vnc on my home computer and then connected from school, slow, but it worked.

Ok ask yourself is it worth it? While this is possible and can take anywhere 30sec to days, you probably won't get an answer hear. Have you tried "the google" lately? It quite helpful. And when you get caught, notice when, they'll bust your ass outa school.

I'm sorry "Piggy backs"? Thats not quite descriptive enough. If you think their is a way to get in without the password, you're quite mistaken. The data is encrypted into unusable data. The password decodes it to usable data.

dang you guys have it hard. i can do all the sites i like(gizmodo, engadget,MR, and others including google images and the fresno state bulldogs athletics site) i just can't do itunes.com or myspace but i have like a 300% in video production class(only class besides computers that uses a computer) and plus me and my friends get on the teachers good side
and plus im allowed to bring my MB so i dont have a site blocker unless im on one of the desktops. My teahcer lets me use the Airport network he has for his MBP
